How often it happens that the recommended planting dates have already passed, and you just received a parcel with seedlings, or there was a need to transplant flowers. And it's simple - all of a sudden I really wanted to have time to plant roses on my site just this year. What to do? But the fact is that it is important to navigate in terms of planting not so much by the numbers on the calendar, but by weather conditions. And this year we have a pretty warm autumn. And November has not yet enjoyed severe cold. Therefore, there is still time to plant roses

Planting pit preparation

When planting in November, the main thing is to have time to do this before the temperature drops below zero and the ground freezes. When the soil is still soft enough, you can grab a shovel and make a planting hole for the rose.

The pit is made with a diameter of about half a meter. The depth should be such that the root collar does not protrude.

For planting a rose, it is undesirable to use the same land that was dug when making a hole. Much more effective is such a mixture as humus with peat or humus with purchased garden soil. It is good to add about 100 g of ash to a bucket of such a soil mixture.

Preparing a rose seedling

We have already said that when buying seedlings, it is advisable to soak the roots in water so that they are saturated with moisture and straightened. And only after that, the roots can be trimmed.

When a rose is transplanted in its own area, the preparation procedure is somewhat different. There is no need to soak the bush in water. But sanitary pruning of the roots should be done. It is necessary to clean up all those places that have rotted or damaged by the tip of a shovel when digging a bush. It is advisable to treat fresh sections with ash or another agent that will prevent root rotting.

In addition, it is imperative to "cut" the aboveground part of the bush. Since we have weakened the root system by pruning, it is necessary to rid the bush of extra buds, which will begin to draw strength from the rose. Therefore, the apex should also be shortened.

Planting a rose in the garden in November

The roots of the rose are sprinkled with earth in several stages. Namely - in three steps. First, the roots of a bush set in a hole are covered with about half of the prepared soil mixture. After that, you need to pour about 5 liters of water into the pit. Therefore, it is very important that during this period there is a positive temperature outside so that the moist earth does not freeze and does not damage the plant.

Now there is no need to rush. Wait for the water to be absorbed and the earth to settle and there are no voids. When the water is absorbed, pour another half of the remaining soil into the hole (that is, a quarter of the total prepared volume). And add 5 more liters of water to the pit. And again, wait until it spills into the depths. Thanks to this, the moist earth tightly fits the roots.

Well, for the third time, the bush is covered with dry earth, no more watering. In this case, you should try to add soil mixture so that a low mound forms under the rose. This is important so that during the thaw period moisture does not accumulate in the area of the root collar. And after warm days, frosts often return, and the rose freezes. After all, the landing takes place when winter is already very close.

Shelter after planting a rose

Well, let's not forget that winter is on the doorstep. Therefore, after planting a rose, she needs to immediately arrange a dry shelter. To do this, a frame of arcs, strong sticks should be installed over the bush, or tubes or posts suitable for height should be driven in. And throw a spunbond on top. Press the ends of the shelter with large stones. Or sacks filled with rubble, sand or other suitable heavy bulk material.

In such a simple way, back in November, you can have time to plant or transplant roses in your garden.
