Rake - many believe that this is a rather outdated tool, but at the same time it still remains one of the most demanded.

What are the rakes?

The rake is considered the optimal tool for cleaning lawns and any other area. Actually, in this regard, an alternative to such inventory cannot be found.

One of the most common rake options, which must be present in any farm, is a simple and universal rake with a simple design. Such a structure consists of a metal cross member, which has short, pointed teeth and cuttings attached to this structure. This tool is designed to level and loosen the ground, as well as remove weeds from flower beds and beds, clean the area around the house and a number of other tasks.

It is interesting that initially any object that could pick up something was called a rake. Today, the rake is an exclusively agricultural tool, although earlier it could be called a wooden spoon or even a human hand.

Actually, rakes differ in the number of teeth and thickness, weight and distance between the teeth. The choice should be based on the purpose of the rake.

Today's assortment mainly consists of products made of painted metal. It is worth noting that this option remains the most budgetary, however, certain inconveniences during work will not be excluded. In addition, such rakes are quite heavy and they can quickly wear out and fail.

The best option would be a rake made of high quality steel, and their working part must be hardened. You can also find products that are made of high strength aluminum, the weight of such a rake will not exceed 800 grams. As for the tools made of high-strength plastic, their weight will be no more than 200 grams.

The teeth of this kind of universal rake are either straight or flat and even rotated. The latter option is designed to loosen the soil and remove weed residues from the breasts. As for implements with even and flat teeth, they are best suited for leveling the surface of the treated area.

But the width of the working canvas is also varied. For example, for loosening and processing rather large areas, a rake will be required, the width of which will be fifty centimeters, but for narrow beds and even hard-to-reach parts of the areas, so-called mini-rakes will be required, the width of which reaches ten centimeters.

There are also so-called aerator rakes, which will perfectly cope with heavy soil, where there are many unbroken clods. The main distinguishing features will be sharp and strong teeth, which are made from high strength steel, which has been subsequently hardened and galvanized. This rake can perfectly loosen the soil and break up hard clods of earth.

You can also remove leaves, old grass and debris with a universal rake, however, the most optimal option would be a specialized harvesting rake. This tool looks like an unfolded fan-shaped panicle, in fact, such models are called fan-shaped. This rake has long wire tines that are bent towards the base at the end. With this rake it is very easy to collect a variety of debris, grass and foliage.

For cleaning large areas, a harvesting rake is required, the width of the working part of which will be eighty centimeters. This tool is characterized by the presence of straight teeth along the entire length of the transverse base. You can also purchase a rake with adjustable distance between the teeth.

There are also special rakes designed for the so-called hay stirring and harvesting. These types are both wooden and plastic, which have blunt cylindrical teeth.
