Lumbago meadow is one of the plants of the family called buttercups, in Latin the name of this plant will sound as follows: PulsatiIIa pratensis (L.) Mill. (Anemone pratensis L.). As for the name of the meadow lumbago family itself, in Latin it will be like this: Ranunculaceae Juss.

Description of lumbago meadow

Meadow lumbago is known under the following popular names: arrow, sleep-grass, arrow, lumbago, dream book, purr, samsonchik, bough, sheep grass and razlapushnik. Meadow lumbago is a perennial herb, endowed with a rather powerful vertical rhizome and it will bloom until the moment when the leaves open. Basal leaves of meadow lumbago are long-petiolate, pubescent and dissected into three two-separate segments. In this case, the lobes of this segment will carry from two to four pointed toothed lobes. Throughout the entire flowering period, lumbago of meadow flower stalks will be covered with thick soft hairs. The cover of this plant is bell-shaped, it consists of leaves accreted at the base. Such leaves of meadow lumbago will be divided, in turn, into linear and highly hairy lobules. The flowers of this plant are broadly bell-shaped, with only six tepals, they will be ovate-pointed and hairy outside. The flowers of lumbago are painted in blue-violet tones, and their length will be about three to four centimeters. The stamens of this plant are shorter than the tepals, and they are painted in yellow tones. The fruits of the meadow lumbago are endowed with a strongly hairy column, the length of which will be about three to five centimeters.

The flowering of this plant occurs in the period from April to May. Under natural conditions, this plant is found on the territory of Belarus, Ukraine and most regions of the European part of Russia. For growth, this plant prefers dry slopes, pine forests, open sandy hills and forest edges.

Description of the medicinal properties of meadow lumbago

Lumbago meadow is endowed with very valuable healing properties, while it is recommended to use the leaves of this plant for medicinal purposes. It is recommended to harvest such medicinal raw materials in the period from April to May.

The presence of such valuable medicinal properties should be explained by the content of sitosterol steroid, ranunculin gamma-lactone, chelidonic acid, beta-amyrin triterpenoid and gamma-pyrone derivatives in the composition of this plant. In the roots of meadow lumbago, saponins will be present, traces of alkaloids were found in the stems, there is vitamin C in the leaves and also traces of alkaloids. The aerial part of this plant contains essential oil, anemonin, gamma-lactone and organic acids.

As for traditional medicine, here this plant is very widespread. Traditional medicine recommends using this plant as a hypnotic and sedative. In addition, meadow lumbago is endowed with a very effective fungicidal, coughing, anti-inflammatory and bactericidal effect.

An infusion prepared on the basis of the herb of this plant is indicated for use in whooping cough, articular rheumatism, various women's diseases and bronchitis. A decoction based on the aerial part of meadow lumbago is used as an expectorant. It is noteworthy that the aqueous extract of the herb of this plant is indicated for use for fungal skin lesions, as well as for dressing wounds.
