Reproduction of istode

Reproduction of this plant can occur both through seeds and dividing the bush, and through cuttings. It is noteworthy that some types of istode are capable of perfectly multiplying with the help of self-seeding. Before sowing seeds, they must be soaked in warm water for about one day. After that, the seeds should be planted to a depth of about one centimeter in loose soil, after which the resulting plantings should be watered. Seeds should be germinated at a temperature of about eighteen to twenty degrees, and a bright spot should be chosen to germinate the seeds. Already in May, it is permissible to plant the resulting seedlings in open ground.

Reproduction by cuttings is carried out at the very beginning of summer. The cuttings should be rooted in a substrate of sand and peat. Such rooting should take place in greenhouse conditions. After the roots appear, each plant will need to be transplanted into a separate pot. In winter, such plants should be kept in a warm and bright place, the temperature in which will be about sixteen degrees.

Reproduction of istode by dividing the bush occurs in the autumn period of time: young plants should be immediately planted in a permanent place.
