Some people try to demonstrate similar abilities in themselves. They claim that they do not live on ordinary food, but synthesize their energy from the sun's rays. Perhaps chlorophyll somehow appeared in their bodies, which so far has been recorded only in plants and without which this trick will not work. There are people-amphibians, why not be people-plants.

But while an epiphyte can be safely called a plant with the name "Anthurium", living in the wild. In greenhouses and flower pots, it grows, like other plants familiar to us, feeding on the organic matter of the earth. Later, such a plant, which has grown from a seed, begins to release aerial roots. They can sink downward, reaching the surface of the ground or floor, or rooting next to the main plant in the ground.

The beautiful and elegant Anthurium has won the hearts of Russian flower growers with its extraordinary bright colors, as if cast from wax. The leaves of the plant, bright green and shiny, and sometimes covered with a relief pattern of unearthly beauty, do not lag behind in beauty.

The plant got its charming name for a flower, the shape of which resembles a bird's tail, sometimes curling into a spiral. Together with a bright veil, from which the inflorescence bursts out to the light, a person appears as if one large, bright and shiny flower.

During flowering, its tailed flower periodically changes its appearance, becoming either feminine or masculine. The stigma of the flower first appears, giving it a feminine appearance. The viscous sweetish liquid on the stigmas attracts pollinating insects. Then stamens appear, which sometimes stretch strongly, hide the stigma under them, giving the flower a masculine appearance. It so happens that the stamens, after pollination of the stigma, are drawn back to the base of the perianth, and the flower again takes on a feminine appearance. In every person, there are also feminine and masculine traits. Maybe we have it from Anthurium?:)

Anthurium care

Being a tropical plant, anthurium loves humid air, warmth, but does not like direct sunlight. Therefore, when choosing a place for him on the windowsill, take care of his shading. Anthurium is whimsical and requires care when grown at home. The flower feels much more at ease in greenhouses, where special conditions are created for its fruitful life.

At home, he loves regular watering, but does not tolerate stagnant water at the bottom of the pot. Therefore, the excess water in the sump should be drained. In winter, the water temperature for irrigation should be slightly above room temperature. In summer, the leaves like to take a "shower", which gives the air humidity and washes away the city dust from them.

You can cover the potted soil with moss. In the spring, the plant begins to grow more intensively. To help him, he needs fertilizing with mineral fertilizers, which are sold in flower shops, ready for feeding flowering plants. If you feed the anthurium once every two weeks, it will delight you with its flowers all summer long.

Plant transplant

Many plants do not like the transplanting process. But, as they grow or during reproduction, you have to periodically do this. Anthurium is no exception. He prefers wide ones. but low pots with drainage at the bottom. When transplanting, you must be careful not to damage the roots and leaves of the plant, and also not to harm yourself, since the plant sap is poisonous.

Pests

The symbiotic relationship (mutual assistance) between some species of anthurium and worker ants contributes to the fact that aphids like to settle on young shoots and flowers of the plant. Anthurium is also affected by the scabbard.
