Hairy Teasel is a biennial herb that can fluctuate in height between fifty centimeters and one and a half meters. The stem of this plant is straight, almost glabrous and also furrowed-faced. The leaves of this plant will be thin-skinned, their outlines are ovoid, while the lower leaves will be on longer petioles. The uppermost leaves of the hairy tease are often endowed with two lateral small lobes, as well as a terminal large one. The head will be spherical in shape, it is located on a bristly stem, its diameter will be about twelve to seventeen centimeters. Actually, such a head will initially be drooping, the leaves of the envelope are leathery and lanceolate. The coverlet is devoid of grooves, at the top it will be serrated. The flowers of the hairy tease are yellowish-white, funnel-shaped, and their length will be about eight to ten millimeters. The stems of this plant are painted in dark purple tones. The flowering of this plant occurs in the month of July, and the ripening of the fruits will begin in the month of August.

Under natural conditions, this plant is found in the Crimea, Moldova, the Caucasus, as well as in Western Siberia, namely in the Irtysh region and near Barnaul. Also, this plant can also be found in the Carpathians and the Dnieper region of Ukraine, and besides this, also in the European part of Russia: in the Volga-Don, Prichernomorsky and Lower Don regions. For growth, hairy teasel prefers shady places, shrubs and forest edges.

Description of the medicinal properties of hairy tease

Hairy Teedleaf is endowed with quite valuable healing properties; for medicinal purposes, it is recommended to use flowers, inflorescences, roots and grass of this plant. The concept of grass includes leaves, inflorescences and stems of hairy tease. The plant contains alkaloids and iridoids.

As for traditional medicine, a decoction of the roots of this plant is widely used here. Such a remedy should be used for syphilis and pulmonary tuberculosis.
