After fierce persecution and persecution, Mac began to appear again in garden plots and city flower beds. The flower petals have become larger and brighter, and the red has pushed back, giving way to other stripes of the rainbow

Human prohibitions do not apply to nature, and therefore, the illiterate self-seeding poppy, who did not read the laws, continued to appear in the gardens as a weed with a short flowering period. The flying petals exposed a small box, from which, like grains of salt pouring out of a hand-made salt shaker, small seeds scattered on the ground, continuing the presence of poppy on the planet contrary to the written laws.
About a hundred species of plants of the genus Poppy (Papaver) continued to decorate the Earth, choosing secluded places where the harsh regulations could not reach. Some species were destined to live only one summer, others needed two years for a full vegetation cycle, and still others firmly established themselves in this world, decorating nature for many years, without leaving one habitable place.
Poppy varieties have been bred with large beautiful flowers crowning long peduncles, convenient for cutting into bouquets.
Varieties
* Alpine poppy (Papaver alpinum) - people who were lucky enough to climb the mountains admired the endless poppy fields, painted with poppy flowers in yellow, white, orange or red. Low-growing bushes, rising above the ground by a maximum of 20 cm, with gray-green leaves forming a basal rosette, adorned the mountain slopes for many years. In culture, they are grown as annuals, planted in rocky gardens.
* Poppy self-seeding (Papaver rhoeas) is a perennial cultivated as an annual plant that does not recognize man-made laws. Every spring, the poppy seed stubbornly shows the world bright red flowers on peduncles reaching a meter in height. Varieties were bred with large flowers (up to 10 cm in diameter), painted in white, pink and purple colors.
* Holostem poppy (Papaver nudicaule) is a self-seeding perennial. In culture, it is grown as a biennial. Low stems (up to 20 cm tall) are crowned with white or yellow flowers that fill the garden with a pleasant aroma throughout the summer.
* Bracts poppy (Papaver bracteatum) is a perennial with lanceolate leaves and red flowers that bloom in summer. At the base of the red petals, nature has painted a purple decorative spot.
* Poppy sleeping pills (Papaver somniferum) - the culprit of the persecution of plants of the genus Poppy blooms from May to June.
* Oriental poppy (Papaver orientale) - perennial, blooming in summer with large scarlet flowers, the diameter of which reaches 20 cm. Such flowers can only be supported by a tall and strong stem, additionally supported by leaves. White, pink or red flowers can be simple or double.
* Atlantic poppy (Papaver atlanticum) - shades of perennial flowers vary from dark orange to bright red, standing out against the background of green leaves, lanceolate or oblong in shape.
Growing
Photophilous poppies choose sunny places to strengthen the flower stalks, withstanding a variety of temperatures.
For abundant and vibrant flowering, soils must be rich in organic matter, well processed. Plants do not tolerate transplanting well, so you should carefully choose a place of permanent residence for them.
Poppy is a plant that can withstand drought, so moderate watering is required when the soil dries out. Potted poppies are watered more often.
Tall species need additional support.
Reproduction
Nice seed pods, if you do not remove the wilted flowers, will take care of the continuation of the plant's life.
Perennials can be propagated by dividing the bush in spring, or by dividing the roots in autumn.
Enemies
They can be affected by fungi that cause various spots on the leaves of the plant.
