Surely in every garden there is a corner for greenery. Usually it is not difficult to grow it, but this business has its own nuances. Let's talk about some of them
Green leafy vegetables and herbs are some of the most sought-after crops in the garden. They can be grown all season, and even in winter - on a windowsill. In order for the greens to delight with their juicy and tasty leaves, it is useful to follow a few simple rules and recommendations:
1. Choosing the right landing site
Greenery, like other plants, needs sunlight. Each herb requires specific growing conditions. Some prefer to grow in cool and dry climates, while others prefer warmth and moisture. Some grow in highly lighted areas, while others need partial shade. Therefore, when planting, it is useful to group plants according to their preferences and characteristics, so that it is easier to provide them with ideal conditions for growth and development.
2. Using quality plants
Plants are planted in different ways: by sowing seeds, cuttings are planted, the method of dividing the root system is used. In any case, healthy and strong plants are selected. Planting weak seedlings or poor quality, expired seeds will not give good results.
3. Providing herbs with everything they need for growth and development
There are picky plants that need to create special conditions for growth and development. Many plants require a soil rich in vitamins and minerals, some can grow in poor soil. For example, rosemary grows in dry climates, but the soil must be well drained. And for thyme, sage, rue, lavender, wormwood, stony and dry soil is suitable. It is advisable to grow mint, basil, cilantro and lemon balm in fertile and moist soil.
4. Greenery loves a lot of space, space
Not all grasses survive in small planting containers. Grasses grow and develop best in the open air. They don't like to grow crowded. With sufficient space between them, air circulates well, it is easier to approach the herbs for care and collection. For example, when planting green onions, cilantro, parsley and dill, leave at least 5-10 cm between the plants (depending on the variety). Basil, thyme, mint and wormwood, thicker herbs, need more space (15-20 cm), and mint and rosemary even more (30-40 cm).
5. Frequent harvest
To get a denser planting of greenery, you need to cut it off regularly. Non-branching grasses are harvested in one of two ways: the lower leaves are cut off regularly in order for new ones to grow, or the whole plants are harvested when they reach a certain size. Regular harvesting and pruning of grasses will help them develop better. Pruning is best done with garden shears.
6. Use of nitrogen fertilizers
To improve the vegetative growth of plants, you need to regularly clean their plantings. However, growing new leaves quickly depletes the soil. Therefore, it is necessary to regularly feed her with nutrients.
The main element responsible for the growth of leaves is nitrogen. If you do not want to use chemical nitrogen fertilizers, you can use compost.
7. Protecting herbs from direct sunlight
Many herbs prefer to grow in sunny meadows, but not everyone likes the heat. To avoid the scorching sun, which will make the plants sluggish and not succulent, you need to protect them from the daytime sun. To do this, it is necessary to make a shade for the plants, which can be larger plants. It is more practical and aesthetically pleasing to use the shade of fast-growing plants climbing on specially installed trellises (zucchini, cucumbers). To maintain coolness, the soil is mulched.
But under tall trees, grasses will not grow well. Unless the crown of the trees is located high, and loose light falls on the grass. This has a beneficial effect on the growth and development of plants.
8. Timely planting
For continuous production of fresh grass throughout the season, it must be planted every 2-3 weeks (depending on the variety). And fast-ripening greens are even more common. For example, watercress ripens in 10-12 days, after which it can be sown again.
9. Planting herbs by dividing
It is not recommended to plant perennial plants (mint, lemon balm, sage, rhubarb) for several years in the same area. In addition, they do not like to grow crowded - it is useful to plant them periodically.

Green Manure To Improve Soil Quality Is Easy
It is possible to restore the soil after harvest and enrich it with important trace elements not only with the help of fertilization. Adherents of organic farming will also appreciate such a method as the use of green manure. Its plus is that it is possible to sow the soil with green manure crops not only in autumn and spring, but also in summer, when the beds are freed from early crops. Let's talk about what kind of green manure can be used on your site. And which ones are better to choose for certain cultures
Green Strawberries

Even in a summer cottage of six acres, you can take a small corner of the space for medicinal herbs. This will save you from walking through the fields and forest edges, where ticks lie in wait in early summer, and in the midst of the heat the sun beats mercilessly and snakes bask on the paths.
