This medicinal plant has several popular names, one of which very accurately notices the healing essence of blue cyan. The name is “Valerian Greek”. We are all familiar with the plant called Valerian, which calms the human nervous system, and we periodically turn to it for help. But blue cyanosis or azure cyanosis is superior to valerian in its ability to put a person's nerves in order
Distribution in nature
Fearless cyanosis blue, being in an adult state, is able to withstand frosts down to minus 50 degrees, and its tender young growth can withstand frosts down to minus 23 degrees. Such resilience allowed it to spread throughout Europe and all of Siberia. Forests and forest-steppe are suitable for her; humus-rich soils along river banks; damp meadows and thickets of floodplain bushes; forest edges and forest glades; the mountains on which she gets to the places where the forests end.
Description
The short rhizome of azure cyanosis has numerous thin adventitious roots. Its erect stems rise to a height of 40 to 150 centimeters.
Unpaired compound leaves have long petioles in the lower part of the plant, and at the top they sit directly on the stem and have a pointed oblong-lanceolate shape. Varieties with variegated leaves have been bred.
The stems are crowned with paniculate inflorescences collected from wide-bell-shaped blue flowers.
The fruits are capsules, almost spherical in shape, inside which are numerous seeds.
Growing
Sinyukha loves humus-rich soils. It grows well on sandy loam or medium loamy, fertilized with mature compost or rotted manure, soil. Prefers moist soil, and therefore requires systematic watering. True, if the summer is cold and very humid, the plant is affected by powdery mildew.
Shade-tolerant, winter-hardy.
The plant is propagated in two ways: either by its small seeds, or by segments of rhizomes. Sowing seeds is best done before winter. On the bed, 2-3 centimeter grooves are made, which, after sowing the seeds, are not covered with soil. If sowing is carried out in the spring, then the seeds must be stratified at a temperature of 0-5 degrees, keeping them in such conditions for 1, 5-2 months.
In the first year of life, blue cyanosis forms only a rosette of basal long-petiolized leaves, and pleases with flowers only the next year. Therefore, it is better to plant it on a permanent place of residence in the spring of the second year of life.
Use in the garden
The openwork foliage of azure cyanosis is decorative throughout the summer season. But the peak of the plant's celebration falls on June-July, when its delicate blue bells appear. Flowering lasts about two months, as the bells begin to bloom from the lower flowers, slowly reaching the top of the stem. It is better to remove faded shoots so as not to reduce the overall decorative effect of the plant.
Cyanosis blue is suitable for a variety of curbs. In mixborders, it goes well with all kinds of ornamental plants, such as the lupines in this photo.
In mixborders, it is planted in the middle or background. A small clump of cyanosis looks good against the background of single boulders; fits harmoniously into the composition of shady gardens. They use cyanosis to decorate trunks and tall shrubs with an openwork crown.
Healing action
The uniqueness of cyanosis lies in the combination of two highly developed therapeutic actions, such as sedative and expectorant, which are superior to those of many natural herbal healers. In addition, it has anti-sclerotic properties.
Time of preparation of medicinal raw materials
The rhizome and roots of cyanosis have healing powers, which are dug up, according to the general custom, either in the spring or later in the fall. Roots of mature plants are more suitable for preparations, although roots can also be harvested at the end of the first year of life. Dried in the usual way, and in dryers set the temperature to no more than 35 degrees.
Contraindications: if the dosage is observed, it is not dangerous for health.
