Growing Chinese cabbage

For self-cultivation, you can choose different types: leafy, head and half-head. Leafy varieties are the earliest ripening, they are "ready" in 30-35 days after germination. If your goal is a full-fledged head of cabbage, then it will take 60-80 days to grow.

Peking cabbage does not cause difficulties for gardeners, it is shade-tolerant, cold-resistant and unpretentious. The only condition for good growth is regular watering, and the fertility of the land is also important. There is also a problem: in cold weather (below +10) and long daylight hours, it can go into the arrow. The main secret to successfully growing Peking cabbage is planting time. The timing is the same as for radish and daikon: early spring or mid-summer.

Choose a site with a loose, humus and moisture-absorbing soil. The best predecessors will be cruciferous (radish, cabbage, rapeseed, radish, rutabaga, turnip, mustard, etc.).

Soil preparation

It is advisable to prepare the garden bed in the fall, with the incorporation of organic matter: a bucket of humus per square meter. Potash and phosphorus mixtures are also added, according to Art. spoon. In the spring, you need to scatter a handful of ammonium nitrate for digging per square meter.

Planting seedlings

It is recommended to plant seedlings in early April. The process of planting in the ground begins at the stage of 3-4 leaves. The scheme for leafy varieties 35x25 cm, for cabbage and semi-cabbage 45x35. Peking cabbage requires careful handling and reacts painfully to root damage. This point must be taken into account during the transplant. Favorable conditions for growth: daylight hours 12 hours, temperature + 16 … + 20.

Growing from seeds

To obtain early greenery, sowing is carried out in a greenhouse in April-May, in the ground - in July. Between the grooves they are kept 25 cm, between the holes 15, the depth of seeding is 2 cm. 2-3 seeds are placed in the hole. At the growth stage of 10 cm, the first thinning is done. When the 9-10th sheet appears - the second. Now there should be a maximum distance between each plant, at least 25 cm.

Plant care

If you have made all the necessary components before planting, then feeding will not be needed. Watering is important, the soil should not be allowed to dry out. After planting seedlings, it is useful to mitigate stress, and also to increase immunity. Pour with Immunofit or Immunocytophyte, Sodium Humate.

Growth biostimulants can be used to increase yields and disease resistance. Water the plants after planting seedlings or the second thinning with Symbiont-Universal. The solution is prepared according to the instructions on the package of the drug.

In leafy varieties, the crop is harvested when the rosette grows, in cabbage varieties - as the head grows. The collection can last until mid-October. Store preferably in a refrigerator in plastic or newspaper. Cabbage planted in July will remain until the new year.
