Our nurse earth is a living organism. Like all living things, she needs care and attention. And we mercilessly trample it with our boots, spray it with poisonous chemicals, dig huge quarries, creating unearthly landscapes and destroying the fertile layer of the earth. The earth is patient, but fatigue and apathy overtake it more and more often. With such an attitude to the land, it is not far from a big trouble
Earth is our soul
Better than Vladimir Vysotsky said about the land, perhaps, you can't say. He compared the earth to our soul, which dirty boots cannot trample. But even an eternal and infinite soul comes a moment when it needs to take a break from earthly hardships and lawlessness.
Of course, an ordinary Russian is not up to the task of land reclamation, which is given up for abuse by one-day tycoons who are only interested in profit. Power forces must intervene here. But, to protect the "soul" on their own weave, it is quite within the power of everyone.
Uprooting old trees
If you got a piece of land with old and diseased trees that are easier to remove than to treat them, do not forget about the wildlife of the earth.
The land under such trees and shrubs is also sick and severely depleted, and therefore needs treatment and rest. It will take the earth at least four years to "catch its breath" from fatigue. Therefore, do not rush to plant fruit trees right there, because you will not get a fruit harvest, but an additional headache.
Reducing the period of rest
Waiting for 4 years is tiring for a person. Therefore, it is possible to reduce the forced release of land, for example, by sowing legumes (peas, beans, clover, vetch, lupine) or cereals (oats, rye) crops on such a plot. Next summer, during the growth of the sown crops, the earth is dug up, thereby enriching it with nutrients, providing the underground workers with food.
Or, for 2-3 years, only annual flowers and vegetables are grown on depleted land, which love fertilizing with dung (cucumbers, zucchini … currants).
The fastest, but time-consuming way, is to expand the hole from the removed old roots to the size of a cubic meter, followed by filling the space with humus or fertile soil fertilized with mineral and organic additives.
For impatient gardeners
If you still can't wait to use the "tired" soil immediately after uprooting the stumps, then in this place you can plant gooseberry or currant bushes, which are less sensitive to tired soil.
Plum and cherry are also less demanding on the condition of the soil, but pear and apple trees will grow capricious and frail.
Mulching
Under natural conditions, the earth is always protected from the scorching rays of the sun by a layer of humus, dry grass, dead aerial parts of plants, fallen leaves and tree branches, as well as by the shade of living plants.
In organic farming, this protective layer of ground cover is called "mulch". The value of mulch can hardly be overestimated.
Useful qualities of mulch
•
Mulching is a tool against drought … Morning dew, life-giving raindrops, jets of a watering hose remain in the soil longer, nourishing the roots of plants and the underworld of organisms, if the earth has a protective layer of mulch that does not interfere with the normal air exchange of the soil.
•
Constancy of soil temperature. Mulch is a natural thermoregulator, keeping the soil cool during the heat of the day and warm at night. Condensation forms under it due to the difference in air and soil temperatures.
•
Weed control. Until the cultivated sprouts gain strength, the mulch layer should be small. Then it is increased, creating an obstacle for the growth of weeds.
•
Loose soil … Mulch keeps the soil loose, allowing free movement of moisture and gas exchange.
•
Future fertilization. Over time, the mulch, processed by worms and microorganisms, turns into additional fertilizer.
Summary
Like all living things, the earth responds to taking care of it with a good harvest of vegetables, berries and fruits. The souls of man and the earth merge into one, triumphant victory over death, destruction and sorrow.

Digging The Earth
From time to time there are disputes between farmers about digging the land. Some believe that digging violates the nature of nature and adds extra work to a person, without increasing the yield of the beds. So to dig or not to dig?
We Return The Debts To The Earth
By harvesting tops in a compost heap in autumn or burning them on a fire, we do a disservice to the soil, depleting it with components useful for plants, and create ourselves additional work and extra costs for fertilizing the soil, pest control, wishing to get a decent harvest
Taking Care Of The Earth
Whatever wonderful seeds of garden crops you buy for your plot, in the end, the success of the harvest will largely depend on the tillage and preparation of the soil for sowing. Some events are best done well in advance, in the fall. Other procedures are planned just before the spring season. Special work lies ahead for those summer residents who are preparing for sowing for the first time
