Biological features
Under favorable conditions, light shading, the height of plants reaches 2-3 meters. The fibrous root part forms a branched rhizome, growing over time, it forms curtains. The leaf blades on the petioles are dissected into large lobules connected at the base. The lower tiers are larger than the upper ones.
The stems end with baskets of large complex inflorescences up to 10 cm in diameter. They are presented in two types: flowers are elongated, narrow, bright yellow, arranged in even rows along the edge, asexual, resembling a tongue. In the middle are tubular, bisexual specimens of a darker shade, giving rise to a new life. Blossom from mid-July to late autumn. The seed is oblong with a toothed crown.
Preferences
Moisture-loving. With a lack of water, it lags behind in growth, the buds become smaller. In the wild, it grows along the edges of forests, river banks. Prefers sunny places, put up with partial shade. On fertile, loose soils, the bushes become more lush, the inflorescences are large.
Easily tolerates drought, temperature fluctuations during the growing season. With strong shading in poorly ventilated areas, it is slightly affected by powdery mildew.
Place in the flower garden
Tall plants of rudbeckia dissected are able to cover unattractive places on the site: sheds, fences, sewers, compost heaps. The juicy greenery of the conifers perfectly sets off the sun balls, making them brighter.
The original frame made of a wicker basket of willow rods or colored wire as a support will create the appearance of a living vase. In this case, there is no need to change the water every day. All that remains is the obligation to remove dried buds. Such a "bouquet" pleases those around for several months without losing its decorative effect.
Rudbeckia is a good background for bright dahlias, phloxes, chrysanthemums, perennial asters, heleniums, and Gaillardia. Sunny shades are in perfect harmony with white, pink, raspberry colors.
Ornamental cereals will add airiness to the composition: reed grass, millet, Chinese reeds, miscanthus, blue sedge. In autumn, among the herbs, "golden balls" will create a bright accent.
Rudbeckia dissected is successfully used by florists in bouquets. With proper care, the plants are cut for 2 weeks. They are combined with ferns, fluffy cereals, sunflowers, chamomiles.
