Passing the front gardens with the Golden Balls, you involuntarily stop to admire the miracle of nature. Inexperienced gardeners have several questions: “How to propagate your favorite plants? What care is required for dissected rudbeckia?"

Rudbeckia reproduces:
• seeds;
• dividing the rhizome.
The seed method requires patience from the grower. In the heads of the inflorescences, the setting of the planting material is single, the germination of the seeds is very low, the plants develop slowly in the first years.
Seeds are sown in prepared boxes with fertile light soil at the end of March to a depth of no more than 3 mm. From above, the earth is moistened with a solution of potassium permanganate, covered with a film.
After 2 weeks, the first shoots appear. Youngsters in the evening, morning hours are supplemented with lamps to avoid stretching the stems. Water sparingly as the soil dries up. Twice with an interval of 2-3 weeks, they are fed with the fertilizer "Kemira for Flowers", according to the instructions on the packet.
After the onset of steadily warm weather, they are planted in seedling beds (at the end of May), having previously accustomed the plants to outdoor conditions. Set distances of 20 cm for better seedling development. The next year, the matured bushes are transferred to a permanent place.
For gardeners, it is easier and faster to propagate rudbeckia dissected by dividing adult specimens. In early spring, the plants are completely dug up. With a sharp knife, cut into sections, leaving 2-3 buds in each. This method is used every 5-7 years, when the curtains reach a diameter of more than 50 cm.
Landing
In order for the powerful root system of rudbeckia to develop well, holes are dug 50 by 50 cm, 25 cm deep. They remove malicious weeds. Fertile soil is prepared from sand, humus, garden soil in a ratio of 1: 2: 2 with the addition of a nitroammofoska matchbox.
The distance between the bushes is set 35-50 cm. Plants are placed on a fertile "pillow", watered with water, buried flush with the root collar. A wooden stake or other support is driven in. Top mulch with peat or sawdust.
"Golden balls" eventually occupy all the free space of the flower bed. To restrict progress, before planting, bury a container without a bottom (barrel, bucket) 30-40 cm high in the ground, leaving a side of 2-3 cm on the surface. Fill the empty space with a fertile mixture. Place a rudbeckia bush in the middle. Bury with the remaining soil. The plant will grow strictly in a confined space, without disturbing its neighbors.
Care
The Golden Balls are fed twice. At the beginning of the regrowth of greenery (May), soluble complex fertilizers "Kemira", "Agricola" are applied a tablespoon to a bucket of liquid. In mid-August (the height of mass flowering), phosphorus-potassium components are used.
In dry periods, water abundantly once a week. In hot weather, without water, flower baskets become smaller, the saturation of colors decreases, and the period of blooming of each bud is shortened.
With gusts of wind, heavy precipitation, long stems under the weight of inflorescences lie down, forming a tangled mass. Timely tying of plants to the support allows you to avoid these troubles. A beautiful design of bushes from a high wicker "basket" will add additional decorative effect to the composition.
When planting thickens, excess shoots are cut out in early spring, while the remaining shoots form larger buds. At the end of the growing season, the green mass is removed completely, leaving 10 cm from the ground.
Excellent frost resistance of plants allows them to survive winters without additional shelter in Central Russia.
The cheerful rudbeckia is practically not attacked by pests, diseases, and does not cause much trouble to the owners.
