Almost everyone eats fish from time to time, and it's no secret that after cleaning and cutting it, a lot of waste remains. And these very waste can be used quite successfully as fertilizer - they are really excellent and, importantly, completely free organic feeding for a huge number of cultivated plants! Apparently, it was not for nothing that the Crimean monks cultivated the magnificent imperial gardens just on fish several centuries ago! So, it's time to find out exactly how it makes sense to use the fish waste accumulated in the kitchen
What are fish bones useful for?
Many gardeners and gardeners carefully collect fish bones throughout the winter - with the onset of spring, dried bones are actively used as a top dressing both for various garden crops and for garden flowers. Fish bones contain a very impressive amount of useful microelements, so why not turn this knowledge for the benefit of garden and vegetable garden vegetation?
Adding to the wells when planting
Especially often potatoes and eggplants with tomatoes are fed in this way. When planting potatoes, some summer residents put fish heads that have accumulated in the freezer during the winter in the dug holes in the dug holes (of course, before putting them in the holes, they must be defrosted). Any fish is suitable for these purposes, the most important thing is that it is not salted. By the way, in this case, moles for potatoes will not be fried!
And in order to feed eggplants or tomatoes, fish waste is preliminarily scrolled through a meat grinder to the state of minced meat, after which a tablespoon with a slide of such “minced meat” is added to each planting hole, while mixing it with a small amount of earth. Gradually decomposing, fish waste will release a whole complex of all kinds of nutrients, and vegetables in this case will not only become much stronger, but will also delight you with an excellent harvest!
Use as fertilizer
In this case, fish waste can be buried in the ground directly in its original form, or you can pre-add it to compost prepared from grass and leaves, but in the second case it is important to take into account that the number of pests in the compost "enriched" with fish waste can significantly increase!
Scaring off mice and moles
Some summer residents prudently plug the entrances into the pest minks with pre-prepared fish waste - it is believed that the smell of decaying fish is an excellent repeller for mice and moles! However, it is still not worth being too zealous in this case, so that the "aroma" standing on the site does not frighten off the summer residents themselves!
Is it possible to replace fish waste with something?
If you practically do not have fish waste, you can simply purchase a bag of fishmeal and use such flour with equal success in your garden!
Possible side effect of using fish waste
As you know, almost everything on earth has both its positive and some negative sides. And the case with fish waste is also no exception - a possible opportunity lies in the fact that in this case, the risk of attracting a huge number of nearby cats and cats to your site increases significantly! So in the event that there are really a lot of these animals in your area, you should first think carefully and weigh the pros and cons. Perhaps, in this case, it will be much more expedient to replace fish waste with fish meal. Well, if you still made a choice in favor of fish waste, then just bury them as deeply as possible - this approach will avoid a number of possible misunderstandings and troubles and will greatly benefit the crops growing in the garden!
In any case, do not rush to throw away fish waste as soon as possible - do not forget that they will serve well in your summer cottage!
