So, in this article we are talking about how to build a septic tank with your own hands. Such construction work will take place in several stages.
The first stage will be earthworks, you will need to prepare a foundation pit, which will be used to install a septic tank. Actually, this stage can hardly be called difficult, but it will turn out to be very laborious. After the pit is ready, it will be necessary to level and compact its bottom, where a layer of sand will subsequently be poured. This layer of sand creates a shock absorbing cushion.
Actually, the most common way to build a septic tank with your own hands is to use ready-made reinforced concrete products, namely well rings. The number of rings required is determined based on the volume of the chambers for the septic tank and the volume of the rings themselves.
So, the pit has been prepared, the concreting process has been completed, now it is required to pour crushed stone in those places where the filter well will be installed. It will be necessary to connect pipes to the well: outlet, inlet and overflow. After that, it is time to waterproof the chambers from the inside and outside. For this purpose, you will need cement mortar and waterproofing materials. Finally, the final stage in this case will be the backfilling of the excavation and the installation of hatches for the wells.
The most durable option seems to be the installation of a concrete septic tank. After all, this product will serve you for a much longer time. The first stage of such construction work will be the concreting of the bottom, where a mesh of reinforcement must first be installed. In order to protect against unwanted corrosion, it is recommended to make the top layer at least three centimeters thick. After the concrete has dried, they begin to concreting the walls and erecting partitions between the future chambers. Then the formwork and reinforcement mesh are built. The last stage of such construction work will be the pouring of the floor; for this purpose, rods are used, the diameter of which is approximately twelve centimeters.
A septic tank from European cups is another option for arranging a septic tank in the country. The first step in this case will be the preparation of the pit, the size of which should be selected taking into account the size of the Eurocube. Before you install the plastic parts, you will need to make a concrete base. The walls of the pit should also be concreted so that the Euro cubes can withstand all possible soil pressure. When choosing this option, you have to deal with filtration fields, because wastewater is not treated very well.
Before the winter season, preliminary preparation of the septic tank is necessary. As for the care of septic tanks, they periodically require thorough cleaning. Special biological additives to the septic tank will significantly increase the period between two purifications. Such additives will contribute to the active decomposition of solid waste, which will significantly reduce their amount.
If in winter you do not plan to come to the country, then you will need to preserve the septic tank for this period. The liquid level in the chamber should be either one-third or two-thirds full. Complete removal of water from the container is not allowed, otherwise in the spring, due to ground movements, an empty septic tank may undergo destructive processes. In addition, it is necessary to strengthen the lid of the septic tank; even old blankets are suitable for this purpose.
