How to feed cucumbers?

Cucumbers can be found in almost every vegetable garden - they are tasty, nutritious and do not require too much maintenance. In summer, cucumbers are an integral part of excellent vegetable salads, and in winter it's always nice to open a jar of crispy pickles or pickles! In a word, there will be cucumbers on the site! And so that the harvest of these bright vegetables always pleases, the cucumbers periodically need to be fed with various nutrients

Yeast

Well-known baker's yeast is a useful top dressing for growing cucumbers! For these purposes, both ordinary yeast and dry yeast are equally well suited, however, it will take longer to tinker with dry yeast.

Fresh yeast is diluted in water at the rate of 100 grams of yeast for every ten liters of water, and in this case, you can immediately start watering. And dry yeast for ten liters of water will need only 10 grams (that is, one small sachet), but they will have to be allowed to brew for two hours. It will not hurt to add two or three tablespoons of sugar to such a mixture. If you do not want to prepare yeast dressings yourself, then it is quite possible to purchase them in the store (Rostmoment dressing, etc.).

Yeast feed for cucumbers should be given no more than two times throughout the season. Despite the fact that yeast lacks valuable trace elements, they are an excellent growth stimulant - after such feeding, cucumbers immediately start growing and instantly come to life!

Mullein

Cucumbers are fed to them at the stage of active growth and fruiting - feeding with a mullein can significantly increase the yield. To prepare a mullein is very simple: for this, one part of fresh manure is poured with three parts of clean water and the mixture is allowed to ferment thoroughly for ten days (when growing cucumbers in greenhouses, it is recommended to leave containers directly in them - the evaporation formed during fermentation is an excellent foliar feeding, for the same purpose, in greenhouses, sometimes mash is left to wander). And for irrigation, one liter of mullein should be taken for each bucket of water. At the fruiting stage, it is useful to add 50 grams of superphosphate to such a solution. Watering in this case is not carried out directly into the beds, but in the grooves dug in the immediate vicinity in advance, which are subsequently leveled. If you dilute such a solution with water in a ratio of 1:20, then it is quite suitable for foliar dressing.

Ash

This is a truly unique complex feeding in all respects - not a single mineral fertilizer can compare with ash in terms of the content of valuable microelements! To feed the cucumbers, you can simply periodically sprinkle all the beds with ashes, but it is best to periodically water them with the most useful ash solution: to prepare it, you just need to thoroughly stir one glass of ash in a bucket of water. When watering, it is imperative to ensure that the insoluble sediment also gets into the beds. And to prepare a solution for foliar dressing, 300 grams of ash is diluted in three liters of water, and then put the solution on fire and boil it for half an hour. Then the solution is allowed to brew for about five to six hours, and after that a little soap is added to it and the total volume of liquid is brought to ten liters. Filter the finished composition and start spraying.

Liquid compost

To prepare liquid compost, you can safely use tops, fresh grass, fallen pears with apples, etc. This raw material is placed in a barrel or any other container for about two-thirds of its total volume and, pouring it with water and covering it with a lid on top, leave to wander for ten days. Once fermentation is complete, you can immediately start using the freshly prepared product by diluting one liter of this solution for each bucket of water. And if the smell from such fertilizer seems intolerable, you can add a little valerian to it - it helps to muffle the fetid aroma.

To achieve especially impressive results, it is recommended to feed cucumbers every one and a half to two weeks, alternating between different methods. Within reasonable limits, it is quite acceptable to combine the above methods with each other.
