Lush nemesia (lat. Nemesia floribunda) - a representative of the genus Nemesia of the Norichnikov family. It is not a common species, although it has high decorative properties. It is suitable for all types of flower beds, but looks especially good when paired with wildflowers in a rustic flower garden.
Characteristics of culture
Lush nemesia is represented by perennials, which are grown in culture as annuals. They are characterized by shortened shoots, not exceeding 40-45 cm in length, covered with oval foliage of bright green color. The flowers of the culture under consideration are small, numerous, pale blue or pale blue in color. Fruits in the form of capsules, bearing a large number of small black seeds.
Sowing seedlings
Most often, the lush nemesis is grown by means of seedlings. Sowing, in turn, is carried out in early spring - no later than the second decade of March. Seeds are sown without embedding in the ground, in separate containers or seedling boxes. The first method is preferable, because the plants have a negative attitude towards the transplant. The substrate for successful germination is used nutritious, loose and well moisturized. Ready mixes are suitable for flower crops, they can be purchased at any garden market.
To speed up the process of spitting seeds, containers or boxes are covered with foil or glass. Covering materials are periodically removed for ventilation and watering. They contain seedlings at an air temperature of at least 18-20C. As a rule, seedlings appear together in 1-2 weeks. 7-10 days after the emergence of seedlings, the soil is treated with a weak solution, including complex mineral fertilizers. Light loosening with a fork is also encouraged. A pick in separate containers is carried out with the appearance of three true leaves on the seedlings.
Landing in open ground is carried out no earlier than the third decade of May, but in warm regions this process can be carried out a little earlier. The main thing is to pre-harden the seedlings and follow the weather forecast at night, because night frosts can destroy still immature plants. It is recommended to plant seedlings in well-lit areas with diffused light. The soil should be fertilized, moderately moist, neutral or slightly acidic.
Before planting, the soil is carefully dug up, holes are formed, they are filled with a mixture of earth with the addition of mineral fertilizers and organic matter, and then the seedling is lowered along with an earthen clod. The voids are carefully tamped, the ridges are watered with warm and settled water. By the way, the optimal distance between plants is 25-30 cm. You can plant a little more closely, but at a distance of at least 20 cm. You should not plant too close, otherwise the plants can become hostages of diseases or pests. In addition, close placement promises slow growth.
Care
Caring for lush nemesia is unremarkable. The most important thing is to ensure that the crop is properly watered, especially during dry periods. To enhance the tillering process, it is necessary to systematically pinch the tops of the shoots. If you skip the procedure, the plants will not please with abundant flowering and lush bushes. Weeding and light loosening are also required and should be done as needed.
Top dressing is a prerequisite for active growth and the formation of a large number of flowers. It is advisable to spend at least 2-3 dressings per season. The first one - when planting, the second and subsequent ones - after 3-4 weeks. Pests and diseases lush nemesia are infrequently affected. This is usually triggered by an unfavorable climate or improper care. For example, to prevent fungal diseases, it is recommended to monitor the soil moisture in the root zone and not get too carried away with nitrogen fertilizers.
