Anemone Oregon (lat. Anemone oregana) - not the most common representative of the Anemone genus of the Buttercup family. It occurs naturally in the United States of America, mainly in the northern part of Washington state. Less commonly, the species is found in the state of Oregon. Typical habitats are slopes, shrubs and woodlands. Another name is the Oregon anemone. It should be noted that the Oregon anemone looks very similar to the oak anemone - a plant growing in Russian forests and included in the Red Book of Russia.
Characteristics of culture
Oregon anemone is represented by perennial herbaceous low-growing plants, not exceeding a height of 30 cm. Also, dwarf specimens are found in culture, which reach a height of 10-20 cm. The peculiarity of the Oregon anemone is the presence of only one basal leaf and three toothed separated stem leaves of green color.
The flowers in the species under consideration are small, reach a maximum of 4 cm in diameter, depending on the variety, they can have a reddish-lavender, light pink, lilac and lavender color. The flowering culture is observed in early spring, in the southern regions - in the third decade of March, in the middle lane - in mid-May. Flowering is long, depending on the climatic zone, lasts until June - July.
Growing features
It is preferable to plant Oregon anemone in semi-shaded areas with diffused light, and I must say that they feel very comfortable on them. And this is not surprising, because in nature, culture grows in woodlands and the absence of bright sunlight is useless for it. It is not forbidden to plant the species in question near trees with an openwork crown, as well as not far from shrubs. By the way, in combination with ornamental shrubs and trees, the Oregon anemone looks quite harmonious; it can also be combined with flower crops, for example, primroses.
Soils for successful cultivation of Oregon anemones are desirable light, drained, rich in minerals. On them, the plant actively grows and blooms profusely, which is the key to an attractive flower bed. This species of the genus Anemone has a positive attitude towards moisture, it is one of the few that grows in nature in swampy areas, therefore, excess moisture (short-term) will not harm it.
In the process of growth, the Oregon anemone forms dense rugs, which soon occupy new territories, displacing neighbors. Therefore, it is very important to systematically thin out the plants. Division is also encouraged, this procedure is recommended to be carried out before the plants part with the foliage. Otherwise, the culture cannot be called whimsical, it only needs regular watering, mulching with natural material, feeding with complex fertilizer 1 time per season and shelter for the winter.

Currently, there are several varieties and varieties of Oregon anemone. For example, Felix (Felix) is a rather bright and attractive variety, like the main species found in nature, however, it has a limited range, it grows mainly in Washington, USA.
It is interesting that the culture grows not in the most favorable areas, mainly in marshy areas, less often in bogs. The species differs from the main species in trifoliate leaves and white flowers with a crimson tint, which adorn the green mass throughout the spring until the beginning of summer.
Among gardeners today, the variety Ellensburg Blue ('Ellensburg Blue) is very popular. It is characterized by low plants with rich blue flowers, which give a certain zest to the overall picture of the garden.
