Amazing ordinary samus

Common samolus grows in the coastal marine areas of northern Africa and Europe. The seashores, washed by crystal clear water, are loved by this aquatic inhabitant most of all. It takes root very well in aquariums - its bright green leaves look incredibly impressive against the background of dark soil. However, you can rarely meet this amazing handsome man in home aquariums, which is due not only to climatic conditions, but also to a number of other factors

Getting to know the plant

Common samolus is endowed with very short stalks, on which rosettes of light green and rather wide petiolate fin-shaped leaves sit. Their tops are usually rounded, and the bases are wedge-shaped. In length, leaf plates grow up to eight centimeters, and in width - up to two. As for the length of the leaf petioles, it is, on average, four centimeters.

In dense nodules of emerging shoots, white delicate flowers of a relatively small size are formed.

This aquatic beauty can grow both under water and slightly protruding above its surface. Under favorable conditions, he gives one leaf a month.

How to grow

Anyone wishing to grow an ordinary airplane is recommended to purchase young plants adapted for underwater maintenance.

The water temperature favorable for the development of this aquatic beauty should be between twenty and twenty-five degrees. This aquatic inhabitant tolerates sharp temperature drops quite painfully, so they should be avoided if possible. The daily temperature difference can be no more than two degrees. The hardness of the water is suitable within the range from five to twelve degrees, and the most optimal indicator of acidity will be 6, 5 - 7, 5. Every ten days it is recommended to change the water by about 1/3 of the volume. Also, an amazing water beauty needs fertilizing with mineral fertilizers and a systematic supply of carbon dioxide. It is allowed to use peat filters.

Samolus ordinary looks amazing on dark ground. So, either coarse gray seeded sand or medium-sized rounded basalt is suitable as a soil. A prerequisite is the presence of a nutritious substrate - it is necessary to prevent damage to the rather fragile roots of the common avalus and, ideally, should be sufficiently oily. It is also allowed to intersperse nutritious high-quality granular fertilizers with the soil. And its minimum thickness should be about seven centimeters.

Lighting for growing an ordinary airplane should be bright enough, with an intensity of 0.7 to 1 W / l. It is undesirable for daylight hours to exceed 11 hours. The lights should always be turned off at night.

Reproduction of the common samus occurs vegetatively - tiny young leaves appear from the soil near adult plants. These leaves are dug up and cut off together with pieces of roots, and then placed in the ground. Sometimes several leaves are separated from adult specimens together with roots (the plant is, as it were, divided in half) and in the same way they root it in the ground. For rather powerful plants, it is enough to simply pinch off the top. And in paludarium conditions, this amazing aquatic inhabitant is able to reproduce by seeds.

Common samolus is best planted in groups. Its development must be systematically monitored. If adult leaves begin to turn yellowish, this means that the rhizomes of the aquatic beauty have collected too much dirt. In this case, they must be cleaned during the next water change. And to create a magnificent decor, the ordinary airplane is best placed in the foreground of the aquariums.
