How to make warm beds

Fast germination, a powerful plant, early flowering, abundant fruiting - all the gardener's actions are aimed at this. Many do not know how to realize the desired cultivation prospects on their site. Heat, moisture, high-quality soil condition is the key to successful farming. Even a greenhouse cannot create ideal conditions for plants. This shelter can protect from cold air, create more suitable temperatures, but the earth … The soil, especially in spring, can remain cold and slow down the development of the root system, slow down growth. The key to success is a garden bed that warms, provides nourishment, and promotes active development. Such comfort is obtained in warm beds

What are warm beds?

Of course, underground communications with warm pipes will heat up, but we are talking about natural processes that do not require material investments and thus create a thermal effect. Warm beds are plant waste disposed of in the ground from your site, which naturally rot, forming thermal processes. The result is an ideal microclimate. Strengthening the effect is achieved by covering with a film or other material.

Benefits of warm beds

- Enrichment of the soil, creation of a favorable microclimate, obtaining early harvests. No additional fertilization is required, except for adding manure and compost.

- Effective use of plant waste, saving the effort required to clean the garden, vegetable garden and waste disposal. Getting high quality humus, improving the structure and composition of the soil.

When is it better to create warm beds?

The end of summer, September, October is the ideal time to create a warm bed, this is the harvest period, putting things in order in the garden, in the flower garden, in the garden. At this time, the summer resident is always puzzled by the numerous waste that cannot be completely disposed of in a compost pit. This issue helps to solve the arrangement of a new bed.

Since August, mowed grass and tops that remain during the collection of root crops and vegetables are laid in it. Stems from peonies, garlic, lilies, etc. You can add food waste, fallen apples, plums, pears, which are collected daily in large quantities.

Warm bed options

High bed consists of a box lined up on the surface. The inner part is filled in layers with soil mixture and plant debris. The option is convenient for work, since you do not need to bend too much, the seedlings are in front of you on a dais.

Deep bed (trench). At the site of the planned planting, a ditch is dug and filled with vegetable filling, covered with earth. The top layer should correspond to the size of the spade bayonet. The final view does not differ in height from the usual ridge.

A bed in the form of a hill. Created with little or no physical effort. Plant organic matter "biofuel" is stored on the selected site and covered with earth. This option has a larger landing area.

Making a warm bed

When arranging a bed in a new place, you need to remove the upper layer (sod). Further actions depend on the intended option. For high, you need to build walls from any available material. The height of the building is 50-70 cm.

For a deep bed, you need to dig a trench. We are not taking the earth far, we will cover the structure with it. If possible, the soil is simply moved to an adjacent bed. The depth is chosen arbitrary: it is better up to a meter, but not less than 50 cm, the width will not work out small - usually more than 40 cm.

The next stage does not require haste: you can fill the entire September with plant waste, which is abundant in autumn. Everything is used, including fallen leaves and small branches. It is better to lay the remains from trimming shrubs on the bottom - they rot longer, and you will not touch them when digging. It is advisable to water the "filling" periodically. After the end of storage, it is better to cover it with polyethylene for a few days, this will serve as a start for the start of the "combustion" process. We fill in the top layer, level it - it's done.

If in the spring, after planting seedlings or sowing seeds, arches are made over the garden bed and covered with a film, then the harvest will be early and abundant. Warm beds can be used for up to five years.
