When equipping an apartment or a summer cottage, we use different materials. One of the practical types of finishing is Danish plaster, called "liquid wallpaper", it has high wear resistance and interesting decorative qualities. It is used on uneven surfaces, hides cracks, flaws, serves as additional thermal insulation, which is very valuable for suburban housing
Advantages and disadvantages
Liquid wallpaper has a complex composition and is always sold dry. The base is textile fibers (cotton, silk), cellulose, binders (acrylic dispersion, CMC glue). For decorativeness, add quartz, marble chips, mica, glitter, colored flocks, sparkles.
The material has no seams, is highly ecological, antistatic, does not absorb odors, is resistant to ultraviolet light, and is not toxic. Especially valuable property: sound and heat insulation. Easy to apply, repair and dismantle. Allows you to embody various design ideas. Disadvantages: high price, after washing they lose aesthetics.
Liquid wallpaper - beautiful design
The popularity of the material is due to the presence of decorative additives and a variety of colors. Designers achieve greater impact by using contrasting shades and patterns.
This coating is ideal for any space, including the living room and hall. When used in the bedroom, be sure to add silk to create a similarity to fabric. Gold thread adds luxury and chic to the coating. Environmental friendliness of the material, bright colors are relevant in children's rooms. The patterns created on liquid wallpaper are popular with babies.
Instructions for use
Liquid wallpaper is used on walls and ceilings. The base does not require special preparation, only the removal of old wallpaper. Experts recommend priming the surface before work, and, if there are nails, paint over the caps. It is better to additionally pass the joints on gypsum plasterboard with putty.
Preparation of the solution
The proportions of water and the weight of the powder are indicated on the package. Before work, you need to shake the bag a little - to make it friable. Add water in small portions, as for kneading pancake dough, otherwise it will not be possible to avoid the formation of lumps in a large volume of liquid. Make the water temperature a little more than +30. After stirring, you need to stand for 12 hours, for complete saturation of all particles with moisture, as a result, a homogeneous structure will be obtained.
It is important to know that when using decorative additives, they should only be added to the dry mixture. Strictly observe the dosage of water, otherwise the liquid mass will not stick to the wall. The ready-made solution can be used for up to 5 days.
Application technology
Working room temperature - not lower than +10. Apply the finished mixture with a spatula, professionals use a hopper gun that sprays with compressed air. Application occurs from the corner of the wall in a reciprocating motion. You need to adhere to a diagonal movement - to the opposite corner. When applying with a spatula, do not rub in, this will lead to the rolling of the fibers and the appearance of flaws in the form of balls and clots.
Pay attention to the layer thickness: it is not desirable that it exceed 4 mm, this will make the coating heavier and provoke flaking. You cannot use different mixes on the same surface. To obtain uniformity of the roll and improve the visual effect, at the end of the work, walk with a wet spatula over the entire treated area. For this purpose, a special canvas for liquid wallpaper is sold, which is especially necessary when working with the ceiling. Drying continues for 12-72 hours.
How to make drawings
On the wall, create an outline of the future image, you can use a stencil. Selecting the appropriate tones, apply the solution one by one to the desired places. To avoid mixing color and blurring boundaries, keep a pause-drying between adjacent areas, 12 hours is enough. The overlap on the borders is trimmed with a knife, according to the drawing. Each shade is applied end-to-end. After filling the entire "picture" with liquid wallpaper, you can highlight the contour with a marker, rhinestones, beads, sparkles. Cartoon characters, elements of folk painting, decorative flowers look spectacular in such variations.
Care, repair and disposal
Walls covered with liquid wallpaper cannot be washed - care consists in cleaning with a vacuum cleaner. Damage can be easily repaired: moisten, scrape off, add water, apply a patch.
For dismantling, moisten with water and remove with a scraper after 10 minutes. If desired, the resulting mixture can be reused, for this you need to collect waste on a spread polyethylene film. As a result, liquid wallpaper turns into a waste-free decorative material.
