Repairing cement-sand or ceramic tiles is an important part of caring for your own country house or summer cottage.

Features of the repair of cement-sand or ceramic tiles

If you are going to repair such a coating, then, first of all, you should remove the old putty and then fill the joints between the tiles with new mortar. This solution is obtained by mixing two parts of sand and one part of lime with the addition of tow.

If you have to replace only a few plates that have undergone various damage, then the sequence of actions will be slightly different. First of all, it is necessary to hammer wooden wedges under the adjacent plates, which are located above. Then you should carefully and, observing accuracy, remove the damaged plate, its edge is hooked with a trowel. The plate that has been nailed to the rail is removed by turning and lifting the trowel. If it is not possible to remove the plate in this case, then the nails should be pulled out with a nail puller and their caps should be cut off with a grinder. If there is such a need, then roofing material should also be replaced. Then remove those nails that attach the slats to the rafters. After that, under the ends of the section that you plan to remove, you need to put hard cardboard and cut the strip. Cut off the damaged roofing material with a knife. The patch must be applied in a larger size than the damaged area itself, while the edges are lubricated with the so-called bitumen mastic. After carrying out all these works, it is necessary to cut out new slats of the same section and nail them in place of the already removed ones. The next step is to install new shingles, which are nailed to the slats. If you have to replace the plates in several rows, then the repair work should start from the lower ones, gradually moving up.

How to choose a roofing material?

It should be noted that the choice of the material for the roof itself will be determined by many different factors, ranging from climatic features and the type of building, to the features of the supporting structures of the roof and your own preferences. The roof is incredibly important for your home, in fact, the durability of the entire building as a whole depends on its condition.

Natural tile is a small piece of roofing material that has a low coefficient of thermal expansion. Such material consists of two vertical locks - this refers to cement-sand tiles. Two horizontal locks - refer to ceramic tiles. Actually, the presence of such elements provides reliable protection against cracks.

Ceramic tiles are created from clay mass by shaping, then drying and firing. In this case, the main raw material is tape secondary clays, which contain a considerable amount of iron oxides. Firing is carried out at a temperature of one thousand degrees Celsius. After that, the tiles will be painted red-brown. Sometimes, during firing, a so-called glaze layer is applied to the front side, which then gives a shiny protective film for the surface.

Clay tiles can be of many types: grooved, single-wave, double-wave and grooved. This type of tile is very durable, reliable and resistant to fire and corrosion. Actually, the costs for such a roof are not expected to be much.

Cement-sand tiles are often called concrete; they are obtained by pressing a mortar mixture while maintaining a high pressure indicator. This mixture will contain quartz sand, alkali-resistant pigment and water. Thanks to the special painting method, the color will be retained for a long time.

If we take into account only the operation, then the choice of natural tiles will be the most successful. At the same time, sound comfort will be preserved in the room, no noise from the outside will be heard here. The moisture will also evaporate rather quickly, which will not lead to the formation of either rot or mold. A house with natural tiles guarantees always fresh and healthy air.
