Small rattle is included in the number of plants of the family called norichnikovye, in Latin the name of this plant will sound as follows: Rhinanthus minor L. As for the name of the small rattle family itself, in Latin it will be like this: Scrophulariaceae Juss.

Description of small rattle

The small rattle is an annual herb, the height of which will fluctuate between twenty and fifty centimeters. It is noteworthy that this plant is also a parasite. The stalk of the small rattle is endowed with four to nine elongated internodes, and is also naked or slightly hairy. The leaves of this plant can be either oblong-lanceolate or lanceolate, their length is two to four centimeters, and the width is about five to ten millimeters. The corolla of this plant is colored in yellow tones, its length is about twelve to fifteen millimeters, the tube turns out to be straight and it will be shorter than the calyx, the nose of the upper lip of this plant will be rounded and small, it can be light or purple in color. The lower lip of the small rattle will be spaced apart, while the throat of the corolla will be open, the box itself is round in shape, it is about nine to ten millimeters in diameter, the length of the seeds is three to four millimeters, and such seeds will be winged.

The flowering of the small rattle falls on the period from May to June, while in the north of the range, the flowering of this plant will begin only in August. Under natural conditions, this plant is found in the Caucasus, the Far East, Western Siberia, Ukraine, as well as the European part of Russia, with the exception of only the Lower Volga region. For growing, the small rattle prefers the banks of rivers, lakes and seas, the edges of forests and meadows, while in the Caucasus this plant will grow at an altitude of up to three thousand meters above sea level. It is worth noting that the small rattle is a poisonous plant, an insecticide and still a very valuable honey plant.

Description of the medicinal properties of the small rattle

Small rattle is endowed with very valuable healing properties, while it is recommended to use the herb of this plant for medicinal purposes.

The presence of such valuable medicinal properties is recommended to be explained by the content in the composition of this plant of phenol carboxylic acids, flavonoids, carotenoids, chlorogenic acid, phenol carboxylic acid and their derivatives, benzoic acid, steroids, alkaloids, iridoids, carbohydrates and related compounds: sucrose, mannitol, pectin and mannitol … It should be noted that the healing properties of a small rattle will be similar to those of a large rattle.

It is noteworthy that in Siberia, a decoction prepared on the basis of a small rattle is recommended for use in case of fever, headache and arrhythmias. In the form of poultices and compresses, this plant should be used for angina. For venereal diseases and boils, an infusion based on this plant should be used. It should be noted that the seeds of the small rattle are a very valuable source of purple dye.

For fever, arrhythmias and headaches, you should use the following healing agent based on this plant: to prepare such a healing agent, you will need to take one tablespoon of crushed grass of a small rattle for two glasses of boiling water. This mixture should be infused for about two hours and filtered thoroughly.
