Pyrethrum red is one of the plants of the family called Asteraceae or Compositae, in Latin the name of this plant will sound as follows: Pyrethrum coccinium (Willd.) Worosch. (P. roseum (Adam.) Bieb.). As for the name of the family of pyrethrum red itself, then in Latin it will be as follows: Asteraceae Dumort. (Compositae Giseke).

Description of pyrethrum red

Pyrethrum red is a perennial herb, the height of which will fluctuate between twenty and sixty centimeters, such a plant will be endowed with a more or less branched oblique rhizome, which in turn is often bare. The stems of such a plant will be either erect or ascending at the very base, and they are also simple and slightly leafy. The leaves of pyrethrum red are usually bare, without noticeable pinpoint glands, while the length of the basal and lower stem leaves will be about fifteen centimeters, and the width will be equal to four centimeters. Such leaves are located on rather long petioles, the plates will be oblong in outline, and the leaves are pinnately dissected. Baskets of red pyrethrum will be single, they can also sometimes be present in the amount of two or three pieces. Reed flowers are painted in pink tones of various shades, with a corolla tube the length will be about one to two millimeters, and with a bend, this length will be equal to twelve to twenty-five millimeters. The achene of red pyrethrum is endowed with approximately five to eight longitudinal ribs; the length of the achene will be approximately two to three millimeters.

The flowering of red pyrethrum occurs in the period from July to August. Under natural conditions, this plant is found in the Caucasus. It should be noted that as an insecticidal or medicinal plant, pyrethrum red will be cultivated in some regions of Russia and in all southern regions of Ukraine. In addition, the plant is also very decorative.

Description of the medicinal properties of pyrethrum red

Pyrethrum red is endowed with very valuable healing properties, while for medicinal purposes it is recommended to use the inflorescences and grass of this plant. The concept of herbs includes the leaves, stems and flowers of this plant. The presence of such valuable medicinal properties is recommended to be explained by the content of thiophenes, pyrethrosine sesquiterpenoid, sulfur-containing compounds, heterocyclic oxygen, monoterpenoids, flavonoid diosmin and diosmethine, as well as formic and propionic acids in the composition of this plant.

On the basis of the aerial part of this plant and its inflorescences, the so-called "Persian powder" is prepared, in turn, the infusion and extract prepared on the basis of red pyrethrum are recommended to be used as a very effective insecticidal and anthelmintic agent.

It is noteworthy that red feverfew is also widely used in veterinary medicine. Here, this plant is used for head lice in pigs, scabies in sheep and horses, and is also used to combat the so-called ectoparasites of poultry. An aqueous extract based on the leaves of pyrethrum red has the ability to exhibit very effective activity against gram-negative bacteria: it is noteworthy that such a very effective property of this plant has been proven experimentally. It is worth noting that such a healing agent turns out to be very effective and the positive effect is noticeable quite quickly with correct and competent use.
