Levisia is one of the stunted perennial plants, in total there are about twenty varieties of this plant in the genus.

For the most favorable development of this plant, it is recommended to choose sunny places, but the plant will need a little shading. Watering Levisia is necessary in moderation, while it is very important not to allow waterlogging of the soil. In addition, when watering, it is also important to carefully monitor so that moisture does not get on both the leaves and the flowers of this plant. Throughout the summer period, both organic and mineral fertilizers will need to be applied approximately once a month. However, more often such feeding should not be performed for the reason that it can have an extremely negative effect on the development of levisia. It is noteworthy that the plant does not have to be covered for the winter.

In the case when the plant is grown in pots, you will need to pick up fairly small pots, which should be endowed with drainage holes. As for the soil composition, you should mix earth, sand and compost, and there should be fairly good drainage at the bottom of the pot. Throughout the summer period, the plant is quite acceptable to be taken out into the open air. As for watering, it should be noted that it is recommended to keep the soil moist throughout the growing season, but waterlogging should not be allowed in any case. In a particularly hot season, this plant may experience a dormant period, which will be expressed in a stop in growth. During this period, watering should be stopped, but the air humidity should be maintained at a fairly high level. For the winter period, it is important to keep this plant in a cool, but rather bright place. In the autumn or in the spring, the plant must be transplanted into new pots, but it is important to prevent damage to the earthen coma.

Reproduction of levisia

Reproduction of this plant can take place both by means of seeds and by means of cuttings. As for reproduction by seeds, then sowing seeds of Levisia should be in the month of October in open ground, however, cultivation through seedlings is also permissible. Before sowing, it is important to stratify the seeds for about one month: you will need to sow the seeds in moist and rather loose soil, and cover the containers with foil, after which they are removed to a rather cool place where the temperature will be about plus five degrees. Most often, such containers are placed in refrigerators. After the seeds grow, the containers can already be transferred to warmer places. When two leaves appear, you should pick the seedlings into separate containers. Seedlings can be planted in open ground after the threat of frost has completely passed. It should be remembered that when choosing reproduction by means of seeds, the flowering of Levisia will begin after a year or two.
