Blackberry (lat. Rubus) - belongs to the category of berry crops; is a genus belonging to the Rosaceae family. It is found in the wild in the Russian Federation, the USA and China.
Description
Blackberries are represented by semi-shrubs up to 100 cm in height, equipped with erect, less often creeping stems, bearing complex, palmate or triple green foliage located on long petioles. The shoots are covered with thorny thorns. Flowers, depending on the species and variety, can be white or light pink, they are small, collected in branched shields.
Fruits in the form of black or reddish-black complex drupes. Fruits may have a bluish bloom. They are usually aromatic, sweet or sour-sweet, watery in texture. A distinctive feature of the culture under consideration is long flowering, often flowers and fruits are found on the plant at the same time.
The subtleties of cultivation
Blackberries are classified as light-loving crops; they are good for intensely lit areas. Wind protection is preferred. In shaded areas, blackberries develop with a lag, flowering is rare. In addition, the shade helps to stretch the shoots in length.

The culture is propagated by the seed method and vegetatively (by cuttings, dividing the bush, etc.). Seed seeds are sown in September. It is important to provide crops with good cover with peat or fallen leaves. Sowing in the spring is not prohibited. Seeds are planted to a depth of 1 cm. Plants are transplanted to the place where cultivation is planned in the phase of five true leaves. The culture grown in this way begins to bear fruit in the fifth year.
Blackberries can be propagated by layering. This is the easiest and most effective way. Layers are laid in prepared grooves, pinned and covered with earth. This breeding method is carried out in the third decade of July. In the spring of next year, the layers are cut off from the bush and planted in the allotted area.

Care
