Anemonella (lat. Anemonella) Is a flowering plant from the Buttercup family. Its name is translated from Greek as "little anemone". And in some English-speaking countries, for slightly hanging inflorescences, anemonella is called a "sad anemone".

Description

Anemonella is a beautiful plant with a height of fifteen to twenty centimeters (sometimes its height can reach thirty centimeters). The leaves of the anemonella are three-lobed and bright green, and each flower sits on a separate, erect and smooth stalk, the height of which does not exceed fifteen centimeters.

The root system of anemonella is quite branched, and under favorable conditions it grows superbly. This is good because you can quickly grow lush flower bushes, but at the same time, with excessive growth, anemonella can easily displace the plants growing in the neighborhood.

The flowers of anemonella outwardly very much resemble anemone flowers, and their color can be either white or lilac, or pink or greenish. Moreover, its flowers can be both simple and double, but one thing is invariable - they all gather in rather loose clusters, but each flower grows on its own stem. And each flower includes from five to ten long yellowish stamens. And the duration of anemonella flowering is on average about three weeks. As soon as flowering is over, the plant immediately dies off, automatically going into a dormant state.

Where grows

The homeland of anemonella is considered to be the eastern part of North America. This plant is especially often seen in temperate zones.

Usage

In culture, anemonella has been known for two centuries. It has established itself especially well as a balcony and garden culture. It is quite acceptable to grow this plant in rockeries or shaded rock gardens, and anemonella can also be planted in the shade of deciduous trees as a ground cover plant.

In addition, sometimes anemonella is also used for medicinal purposes - in this case, the roots are used, since the aerial parts of this plant contain various toxic substances.

Growing and caring

Best of all, anemonella will feel in light partial shade, on well-drained, moderately moist and breathable soils. At the same time, the level of soil acidity can be absolutely anything. The main thing is not to forget that anemonella categorically does not tolerate stagnant moisture. Also, when planting anemonella, you should not bury the nodules to a depth of more than five centimeters.

It is very important to observe the irrigation regime when growing anemonella - ideally, the soil should always remain moist, but in no case should water stagnation be allowed. In principle, anemonella will also withstand a short drought, only after that the intensity of its flowering will significantly decrease.

Anemonella is propagated by seeds sown before winter. And some varietal varieties of this plant can also be propagated by division (this applies mainly to varieties with double flowers).

Also, starting from early spring and until the very end of the growing season, the anemonella is allowed to be pampered several times with good organic dressings.

As for transplantation and division, their anemonella is extremely unimportant, therefore, if there is such an opportunity, it is better to refrain from these manipulations. However, it can easily grow for several years without them. But this beautiful plant is practically not affected by pests or diseases, but sometimes it can still be attacked by slugs, rust or powdery mildew.
