Anafalis is a genus of perennial herbaceous plants that are part of the family called Asteraceae or, as it is sometimes called, the Asteraceae family.

The height of anaphalis can range from twenty to ninety centimeters; East Asia is considered the birthplace of this plant. In total, there are about thirty-five species of anaphalis, while only twelve species grow on the territory of Russia, and only three species of them are considered cultural.

Description of anaphalis

In anaphalis, corymbose inflorescences are observed, which are formed with the help of small baskets, which have white wraps of petals and which are surrounded by the so-called tubular flowers. Anaphalis will have densely pubescent shoots, while the leaves are covered with hairs that have a silvery tint on the underside.

This perennial plant can be called quite unpretentious, it is widely used in the design of not only lawns, but also flower beds. The proximity of anaphalis with perennial flowers, which are either blue or red, is considered very attractive and advantageous. In this case, anaphalis will only emphasize the natural brightness of such plants and favorably set off their beauty. Among other things, anaphalis is often used to create amazingly beautiful dry bouquets. Such bouquets will help to decorate literally any interior in a very original way. You can combine such a bouquet of anaphalis with almost any plants and flowers that are considered suitable for storage in a dried form. As for ordinary gardens, here it is quite easy for anafalis to find a suitable neighborhood.

It is noteworthy that anaphalis is widely known not only for its exceptional decorative properties. In folk medicine, this flower plays the role of a laxative for severe poisoning, it is believed that it helps with headaches, and can also be used as a remedy for tumors, bruises and burns. Actually, in folk medicine, flowers of pearl anaphalis are most often used, from which various decoctions and infusions are made.

The most popular types of anaphalis are the following: pearl anaphalis, Nepalese and three-veined.

Growing anaphalis

For normal development, this flower will require open, sunny places that are well lit. However, professionals note that anaphalis is also able to tolerate partial shade quite well.

As for the soil, the best solution would be a drained soil, it should be dry and it should easily absorb water. In general, anaphalis is not particularly picky about the soil and is able to develop normally even on sandy soils.

Reproduction of the plant occurs by means of seeds, cuttings and division of rhizomes. If you plan to multiply by seeds, then they must be planted in the ground at the beginning of May. As for reproduction by cuttings, then in this case, the period from May to June is suitable. Cuttings should be cut, the length of which will be about five to seven centimeters, and then planted in the soil. Before planting, you should prepare the site as follows: dig it up, add fertilizer and sand, in the event that the soil itself is heavy. Plants should be spaced thirty to forty centimeters apart, and the pits prepared for the plants should be twice the diameter of the plant roots themselves. After planting has been carried out, it is necessary to carefully tamp the soil surface and then carry out a fairly abundant watering.

Anaphalis bloom occurs between July and September. With proper care, these amazingly beautiful flowers can delight their owner for a long time with their bright appearance.
