Anemopsis is a member of the family called Savruceae. This plant is native to the southwestern part of North America.

Description of anemopsis

Anemopsis is a very interesting perennial plant, in height this plant can reach about sixty centimeters. Anemopsis is endowed with a rather thick rhizome; the leaves of this plant are endowed with oblong shapes and are collected in the lower part of the plant stem. It is worth noting that the flowers of anemopsis themselves are considered quite peculiar: small flowers are collected in a very dense and small cob. The inflorescence of such flowers will have four rather large bracts.

Translated from Spanish, the name of this plant means "calm herb". The indigenous people of America used this plant, among other things, for the treatment of a number of various diseases. At the same time, the spectrum of such diseases ranged from infections of the genitourinary system to the usual toothache. Also in those days it was believed that anemopsis is also endowed with magical properties. It should be noted that today this very ancient plant is under the threat of almost complete extinction.

As for the reproduction of a plant such as anemopsis, it can occur through seeds or by dividing rhizomes. Most often, such plants are used as a very peculiar decoration for not particularly large reservoirs. These plants are planted in moist and fertile soil along the banks. Planting anemopsis in wide containers is also permissible. When growing anemopsis, you should also remember that these plants are very fond of bright sunlight.

It is noteworthy that these plants do not require special care. However, the most important thing is to carefully limit the spread of this plant, which is characterized by a fairly rapid growth. In the south, these plants are able to perfectly spend the winter time in the ground. However, in the middle lane, anemopsis should be transferred to the cellar for the winter. Otherwise, these plants may die, being unable to withstand particularly severe frosts.

Description of Californian anemopsis

In Latin, the name of the Californian anemopsis is as follows: Anemopsis californica. Californian anemopsis occurs from the southwestern part of North America.

This plant can reach sixty centimeters in length, the plant is endowed with a very thick rhizome and oblong leaves. Californian anemopsis leaves are collected at the very bottom of the stem. The inflorescence is a small flower, and each of them will also have a small, but, nevertheless, a well-visible white bracts. Such flowers will form a dense ear.

As for the choice of a location intended for growing Californian anemopsis, a well-lit area is considered the best option. It is recommended to plant this plant in damp soil on the shore of a reservoir or in wide containers if there is no soil in the reservoir.

Actually, all caring for the plant will be limited to limiting the widespread distribution of Californian anemopsis. If you grow this plant in the north, then for the winter period you will need to transfer it to the cellar. This circumstance is due to the fact that the plant may not survive especially severe frosts. In the south, Californian anemopsis is able to overwinter in the ground. Reproduction of this plant can occur both through rhizomes and with the help of seeds. This plant will be a wonderful decoration for both small and medium-sized water bodies.
