Foxglove purple (Digitalis purpurea) - in two years of life, the foxglove grows in height from 1, 2 to 2 meters. The strong erect stem is covered with rich green oblong leaves. The leaves, covered with hairs, sit on the stem in a strictly regular order. In the first half of summer, purple flowers bloom on only one side of the peduncle (they can also be white or red) with purple traces of elves inside the "thimble". The varieties are bred, the flowers of which are much larger than the botanical species. For example, the variety "Monstera" is distinguished by very large apical marginal flowers, with a double corolla, erect.

Foxglove large-flowered (Digitalis grandiflora) is a tall perennial that grows up to one meter in height. Lanceolate leaves and one-sided inflorescences of yellow bell-shaped large (up to 6 cm long) flowers with chocolate-brown spots-spots inside decorate the plant in summer.

Foxglove yellow (Digitalis lutea) - perennial with a height of 0.8 to 1.0 meters. Differs in the smoothness of the stem and leaves. In the middle of summer, yellow thimble flowers bloom on one side of the inflorescence-brush.
Growing
Tall foxgloves are used in the background of mixborders. From the middle-sized ones, they arrange curbs. Looks good as a separate curtain on a green lawn or lawn. The plant is also grown in pots as an annual crop.
Foxglove loves the sun, but puts up with shade and partial shade. It tolerates heat well and winters well under the snow.
The plant, undemanding to soils, loves moderately moist, sun-warmed areas. In early September, seedlings are planted in a permanent place, leaving from 30 to 60 cm (depending on the height of the species) between individual specimens.
When grown in pots, soil is prepared from a mixture of fertile soil, peat and sand, taken in equal amounts. When planting, a complete mineral fertilizer is added. Watering is carried out as needed, maintaining a moderate soil moisture. Once every 2-3 weeks, watering is combined with mineral feeding.

Reproduction
Foxglove seeds are very small, therefore, when sowing, which can be carried out directly into open ground at the end of May, the seeds are practically not buried. Enemies
A poisonous foxglove can not always cope with enemies on its own. Its leaves can become spotted, the roots and peduncles can succumb to fungi and viral diseases. Then the roots and peduncle begin to rot, and the leaves curl into a tube. Such plants should be removed immediately to stop the spread of the disease.
