The nuances of choosing bedding

People spend about a third of their lives in bed. In addition to the quality of the bed and mattress, bed linen also affects a comfortable sleep. On the modern market there is a huge assortment of kits in different colors and materials. How to choose the best one?

Color and character

Each person tries to put into his home such favorite things that are the imprint of his character and personality. This is best seen in the bedroom. The very first and most striking indicator of the owner's personality is considered to be his bedspread, which is laid on the bed. Its color and appearance can help reveal the home owner's nature and character.

Very bright shades are preferred by eccentric people associated with creativity. Linen in pastel shades is preferred by very balanced people who carefully weigh every step and deed in life. If a person strives for self-expression and wants bright transformations in the interior of the house, then he can focus on original bedding with an interesting pattern and color.

Bedspread selection

When choosing a bedspread, it is better to choose one that matches the overall style of the home interior. For example, in a classic-style bedroom, a plush bedspread is well suited. And it will also be combined with the romantic interior in the girls' room.

The classic interior should be complemented and emphasized by an exquisite silk bedspread. You can also choose a practical thick cotton bedspread for such a bedroom. It is good if the colors are in harmony with the wallpaper. In some stores, you can find a complete set of bedding sets that consist of pillowcases, sheets, bedspreads and duvet covers.

This set is convenient if it was not possible to choose home textiles on your own, and, as you know, the bedspread harmoniously complements the pillows and blanket. But before buying such sets, it is advisable to measure the pillows and blanket. It is best when all the items of the bedding are purchased at the same time. In this case, it will be easier to choose pillows and a blanket for the size of the bedding that is already included in the set.

Types of material

Experts advise to choose the right bed linen not only by color, but also by variety. Everyone has different preferences for the type of material, but most often it is cotton. The most expensive and high quality is 100% Egyptian. It is distinguished by very long staple fibers, from which extremely durable fabrics are obtained (coarse calico, poplin, polycotton).

Pima cotton is made of medium-length staple fibers and is renowned for its softness, luster and more affordable price than Egyptian cotton. Another popular material for the production of bedding is linen. It is ideal for hot climates and is durable.

Lately, bamboo fiber linen deserves the love of buyers: durable, soft, pleasant to the touch. Silk underwear, despite its beauty, is not to everyone's liking: the surface of the linen is too slippery, and on hot days it sticks more to the body. A more budgetary option is polyester fabrics, or a mixture of cotton and polyester. They are easy to care for, and they wrinkle less, but quickly fail.

Criterias of choice

First of all, you need to pay attention to the ability of the fabric to pass air and moisture. Therefore, it is advisable to choose natural materials (cotton, linen or silk). They are more pleasant to the body and more durable than artificial ones. However, it is also important to take into account the density of the fabric so that repeated washings do not damage the fabric. A good indicator is 60 to 500 weaves per square centimeter. The inscription on the package may be incorrect, it is better to look at the fabric and feel it.

If the seams are uneven and interrupted, the laundry may lose shape after washing. As a rule, high-quality sets are processed with a special double linen seam, which can be viewed from the wrong side of the linen. The threads should also be good, strong and match the shade of the canvas.

An important factor is the quality of fabric dyes. Cheap materials usually fade and become faded after the first or second wash. And some dyes can cause allergies. First of all, bad materials give off a smell. Linen should not smell strongly of chemicals, mold or paint, but only textiles. The shade of the linen on both sides (front and back) should not be very different. If the washing conditions on the label indicate more than 60 C, then most likely the dye is of good quality. And the packaging of the laundry matters: a cheap box and a bag are often indicators of a low-grade product.
