Many medicinal herbs, known in ancient times, receive a "second life" today, thanks to the tireless and meticulous researchers of the plant world. Getting acquainted with the list of useful substances accumulated by such herbs, you never stop wondering and admiring natural creativity
Rhodiola rosea
For the unique abilities of Rhodiola rosea, the people call her the "Golden Root". Although, in my opinion, the comparison with gold does not always sound like a compliment when you remember the fairy tale about the king, from the touch of whose hand all things, including food, turned into gold bars. Thank God that such a transformation did not affect the plant with the name "Rhodiola rosea".
The healing qualities of the Golden Root have been highly prized since ancient times. The emperors of China equipped special expeditions, the purpose of which was to find the plant. The golden root was used by the indigenous population of Altai, keeping the methods of its use a great secret. But the time comes when the secrets are revealed, becoming public. This happened with the Golden Root in the second half of the 20th century, when a scientific expedition "discovered" the plant in the Altai mountains.
Such a late "discovery" is explained by the plant's love to settle in places that are hard to reach for humans. It loves to climb gravel and rocky slopes up to an altitude of 2,700 meters. Their gray fleshy leaves, densely settled on juicy stems up to half a meter high, can be found on alpine meadows, along the banks of streams, jingling merrily in rock crevices, near the eternal mountain glaciers, where the foot of avid climbers only occasionally steps.
The inaccessibility of growing areas could not protect the plant from predatory harvesting, which led to the depletion of natural thickets. Strict laws were required to safeguard the Golden Root. Unfortunately, laws are written on paper in the most important city of the country, and in life it is impossible to put protection on everything that requires protection from a person in his own interests.
The roots of Rhodiola have healing properties. Moreover, these should be the roots of adult plants, which showed the world more than two succulent stems. They are dug out after the death of the aerial part of the plant, enjoying a scent similar to that of a tea rose.
A medicinal tincture is prepared from the dried roots. Half a liter of 40 percent alcohol requires 50 grams of harvested roots. Having sustained the tincture for 2 weeks, it is filtered and taken half an hour before a meal. The course of treatment assumes a duration of 2-3 weeks at the rate of 20 drops 3 times a day.
The tincture is multifunctional. Along with the effect of calming the nervous system, relieving the consequences of neuroses, the Golden Root slows down the aging process of the endocrine glands, helps men cope with sexual dysfunctions, and strengthens the body's resistance to the hardships of life.
Side effects:
It is advisable to obtain the approval of the attending physician before use.
Should not be taken by hypertensive patients, with strong nervous excitement and high body temperature.
It is better to take the drug in the morning.
Rue
Ruta fragrant is valued by man not only as a medicinal plant, but also as a spice, which is widely used in various areas of the food industry, from ordinary vegetable and meat dishes to the aromatization of liqueur and cognac drinks.
If in Rhodiola the scent of roses comes from the roots, then in Ruta, dried greenish-yellow flowers smell like a rose. Ruta is an unpretentious plant that can be found on gravelly, calcareous soils.
The herb and leaves of Ruta serve as medicinal raw materials for man. The grass is ready to work for the benefit of the person during the flowering period, and the leaves are harvested before flowering.
Like many herbs, Ruta has many healing qualities. To maintain the nervous system, tea or an infusion of dry herbs is prepared.
Tea
Two cups of this tea a day will help soothe slightly naughty nerves, or drive away annoying insomnia. This requires only one heaped teaspoon of dry herb and a glass of boiling water. After 5 minutes of their interaction, the tea is filtered and the aroma is enjoyed, while healing the nerves.
Side effects:
Contraindicated in pregnant women, people with hypersensitive skin and with personal intolerance to Ruta.
