Description
The Latin name for Sunberry is Solanum retroflexum. The plant itself is a branchy bush of the nightshade family. There are many rumors surrounding this overseas berry. Some illiterate sellers advertise the sun berry very controversially, calling it "tall garden blueberries." In fact, this is not the case. Sunberry is the South American sister of the well-known nightshade. Sunberry shoots reach a height of up to two meters, but such giants are rare. The average length of a large tetrahedral stem is 70 cm. During long flowering, the Sunberry is very decorative, thanks to the blossoming lacy white flowers.
At the end of September, you can already feast on ripe sunberries, which resemble blueberries in their appearance. The large, shiny berries, similar in size to a large cherry, are eye-catching. One bush of the plant is very fertile, from five bushes of the first years they collect a bucket of fruits.
The berries grow in bunches and, when fresh, have a specific taste. Often picking a berry and feeling freshness, people spit it out and think that it is not tasty. But the fact is, Sunberry is only good when boiled or otherwise cooked.
