Many summer residents believe that pepper has its roots in Europe. But this is not the case. He came to our region from distant Central America. Previously, it was possible to grow this vegetable crop only in regions with warm climatic conditions. For a vegetable like peppers, planting and care takes a lot of time and effort. But in the end, in any part of the country, the plant will delight its owner with delicious fruits with a high content of vitamin C
The vegetable culture of pepper includes more than two thousand of the most different varieties. This vegetable is very actively used in cooking and canning. The taste and aroma of the vegetable have long been loved by gardeners. But its main advantage lies in the rich variety of useful microelements. For the purpose of excellent formation of the stem and the timely formation of ovaries, plant seedlings are planted on the beds already ready-made. In order for the seedlings themselves to be strong and stable, the seeds of the selected variety should be prepared in advance and all planting dates and other procedures should be observed.
Plants that have already reached the age of three or a little more months are planted in the open air. In room conditions, seeds are sown in early February. Since this vegetable has a rather long germination period, the seeds must be prepared for the planting process in advance. To begin with, the seeds must be soaked for a period of twenty minutes in a manganese solution, the temperature of which should be close to room temperature. Stratification will help speed up the seed germination process. For these purposes, it is necessary to wrap the seeds in a damp cloth and leave for 48 hours in a warm place. You can increase the potential of the seeds by keeping them in heated water with the juice of the aloe plant.
As a soil for planting peppers, preference should be given to airy and light earth, through which oxygen can flow to the pepper bushes. To increase the fertility of the soil, one part of humus should be added to two parts of the earth. In the same volume, it is required to take sand. For one kilogram of earth, add a tablespoon of wood ash.
After the stratification is completed, the seeds must be planted in small containers in the form of trays or glasses, observing the distance between the holes in the amount of two centimeters. Then it is required to cover the container with glass material or polyethylene film to create a greenhouse effect. If the temperature inside the mini-greenhouse is from twenty-two to twenty-four degrees, then after seven days the first sprouts can be observed. However, they are very sensitive to a drop in temperature, due to which peppers can sprout longer, and the growth process itself will be much slower. The watering procedure is carried out with the water that has stood for a while, and it must be warm. It is also a good idea to sometimes spray the leaves of the bushes.
Drafts are an unfavorable factor for a vegetable crop, which is why boxes with pepper seedlings are removed from the windowsill during the airing of the room. If the day turned out to be cloudy and rainy, then the pepper sprouts need to be provided with additional highlighting. Otherwise, the result of a lack of light may be leaf fall or yellowness.
Once within fourteen days, you should feed the vegetable crop of pepper in the form of a mineral fertilizer. First, it is worth carrying out the procedure at the moment when the first two leaves appear. Here you should prepare a special solution of half a gram of ammonium nitrate, one gram of potassium-based fertilizer and three grams of superphosphate. All this is added to the water in the amount of one liter. In the following dressings, the volume of ingredients must be doubled exactly, but in the very last fertilization of seedlings, the timing is important - a couple of days before planting in a greenhouse or in the open air.
Sometimes organic fertilizers are a good option for feeding procedures. Before the vegetables are planted in the open air, it is required to harden the seedlings, gradually accustoming them to the rays of the sun and the currents of the wind. In general, pepper does not tolerate the transplant operation very well, due to which some summer residents are trying to avoid picking. At the same time, if you dive the seedlings correctly and competently, the roots of the bushes will be several times stronger, more powerful and healthier.
