Plants of urban lawns

Walking around the summer city, I noticed some changes in the plant world of the lawns located near the entrances of high-rise buildings. At one time they calmly overgrown with dandelions, nettles, rape and other wild herbs. But already a dozen years ago, enthusiasts began to decorate them, organizing competitions between houses, and therefore the savages were replaced by Kosmeya, Calendula, Chamomile and other familiar flowering plants of city lawns. But already two or three years, as the list of plants has changed abruptly, to my surprise and admiration

What appeared on the lawns, which enthusiasts continue to take care of? After all, city services support only flower gardens in parks, on boulevards and central streets, where marigolds of various types, colorful Petunia, Snapdragon, Pelargonia with pink, red, white caps of lush inflorescences and other standard plants, are the same every year. And on the driveway lawns appeared Daffodils and Tulips, Primroses of all kinds of colors, Maryin's root (or Peony evading), Comfrey, Badan thick-leaved, Bathing girl, which we call "Lights" for its bright orange flowers … Most of the listed plants came to the city from the wild. Thanks for them should be given to enthusiastic motorists who have the ability and desire to relocate these beautiful plants from the wild to the city, so that people who are unable to leave the city can admire the generosity of our Siberian nature.

Peony evading or Maryin root

The spectacular ornamental plant Peony evading has healing powers, for which it received its Latin name "Paeonia anomala" from botanists. Indeed, the name of the genus "Paeonia" is based on the Greek word meaning "healing, healing".

The only pity is that its large dark pink flower petals fall off very quickly. Although a lush shrub with lanceolate-shaped, royal-fanlike leaves, it remains green and inviting throughout the summer season. Yes, fruit leaflets adorn the leaves. When the fruits are fully ripe, the pods open their doors, revealing shiny black seeds, similar to beads, from which girls make jewelry for themselves.

The plant is very unpretentious, growing in one place for many years, without requiring much care.

Badan thick-leaved

The amazingly beautiful Badan thick-leaved adorned the gardens of rich people in the second half of the Eighteenth century. In Soviet times, the plant was somehow forgotten, and therefore only restless tourists could admire it, storming the mountain heights, where Badan chose a place of residence for himself in cracks of rocks, but on stony taluses.

Of course, you can't make tea from urban Badan, it has to absorb a lot of harmful impurities into its beauty. So, the scent of the cedar taiga can only be imagined by looking at the leathery, shiny leaves and paniculate inflorescences of small pink bells.

Badan thick-leaved is unpretentious to soils, does not require special close human care, grows for itself, surrounded by annoying despair, not yielding to it its territory, on which it can grow for more than fifteen years.

Primula spring and decorative

In addition to the Primrose of spring (or, medicinal), which is also available on our lawns, "jingling" with its "golden keys" of bright yellow inflorescences, there are also decorative plant species created by the commonwealth of nature and man, Their delicate petals can have very different color, one-color or like this, two-color, as in this photo, which captures a picturesque bush near the entrance.

I can not resist showing my favorite Lights, which now "light up" on the city lawn.
