Spring is in the yard, the time is not far off to plant beautiful flowers and ornamental grasses in flowerpots to decorate our courtyards and summer cottages. At the same time, many are afraid to plant ornamental plants in flowerpots in their summer cottages, since they require constant watering and in the case of a prolonged absence, the plants may dry out. What to do if you really want to decorate your site with beautiful flowerpots with unusual plants?
Currently, a simple solution to this problem is decorative flowerpots or ordinary pots with double walls. They are used both to create vertical flower beds and to create beautiful and complex compositions. At the same time, there is no need to be afraid that the plants will be left without watering for some time and die.
How does such a flowerpot work?
In principle, there is nothing complicated in the arrangement of the flowerpot, except for one thing: it is usually made solid with a small hole (if the pot is rectangular, then there are several holes) in the inner "pot". This hole is designed just to drain excess moisture into the cavity between the walls of the flowerpot.
What are the advantages of such a flowerpot?
One of the main advantages is the almost complete absence of temperature fluctuations inside the flowerpot. Double walls protect the soil and plant roots from both overheating and hypothermia. That is, these same double walls create a microclimate inside the flowerpot that is comfortable enough for the roots of various plants. Accordingly, plants in such pots grow better.
The second, also an important plus, is the ability to make a supply of water in the cavity between the walls of the flowerpot. Thus, you do not have to worry about the safety of the plant if you need to leave for a while and leave your site unattended. Plants will be slowly "watered" from the storehouse and wait for your return.
The third plus is the protection of the soil from waterlogging, which will prevent the death of the plant. All excess moisture will go into the void between the walls of the flowerpot, which makes it almost impossible to over-water the plant and rot the root system.
By the way, flowerpots can be used not only on the street, but also indoors, for example, in the office, in the winter garden, and just in the house. Due to the use of plastic as the main material, the creators of such flowerpots are not limited in shape, size or color. Thus, the flowerpot can be selected for the desired interior.
And one more small plus - such flowerpots, due to the lightness of the material used and the voids between the walls, can be used on water. But then it will not be possible to create a supply of water, otherwise the lightness of the structure will be lost.
Cons of double-walled flowerpots
As for me, the only negative is plastic. But, if you believe the assertion of the manufacturers of these very flowerpots (and there are many firms), then the plastic is used especially durable, designed for 10-15 years of service, and environmentally friendly, non-toxic, and, in general, only solid pluses. But I dislike plastic, and such flowerpots are not made of other materials, since either the structure is too heavy, which will exclude the possibility of using flowerpots as hanging ones, as well as in vertical flower beds, or there are many cracks, which will not allow moisture to be retained between the walls.
Using double-walled flowerpots
Due to their lightness, double-walled flowerpots can be used almost anywhere. You can arrange beautiful hanging flower beds, you can build tall horizontal beds with flowers of different sizes and colors along the walls, which will create the illusion of flower walls. In addition, such flowerpots can be used to decorate a small pond (and here there is a limitation in the amount of soil and watering, so that the pot does not become too heavy). In general, the scope of using these flowerpots is limited only by your imagination!
