Vegetable pepper came to our gardens from distant South America. And therefore, he has special requirements for light and heat, with which the vagaries of the weather do not want to be reckoned with. In order not to rely on nature, a gardener can easily create a favorable microclimate for his pets in a greenhouse. Caring for this vegetable in greenhouses is simple, but it has its own subtleties
Basic rules for caring for vegetables in greenhouses
Cultivating vegetable peppers in a greenhouse is not as difficult as it might seem from a cursory glance at the process. It is important to adhere to a few basic rules:
1. Maintain a constant temperature in protected ground. Fluctuations in the thermometer cause growth retardation.
2. Provide the peppers with good lighting. When there is enough light, leaves and stems delight with a rich green color.
3. Water the peppers regularly. If the watering regime is violated, the leaves quickly react with the appearance of brown spots.
4. Do not forget about the need to loosen the soil - this will provide the best moisture capacity and aeration of the soil. If this is not done, the pets are doomed to furasia withering.
5. During the summer, fertilize with both organic and basic mineral fertilizers.
What you need to know about watering
Any indoor plant care includes watering. However, you cannot row one size fits all, because each pet needs its own dose of moisture. Peppers are a moisture-loving crop. At the same time, you need to carefully monitor so as not to overdo it with watering and not flood the bush. On average, a bush will need about 2 liters of water at a time.
In general, about 10-12 waterings are required during the growing season. The regularity is calculated as follows:
• 3-4 watering sessions are performed before fruiting;
• 6-7 - during fruiting and harvesting.
The temperature and volume of water depend on the weather and the season of the year. In the spring months, when the air temperature is cool, less water is required, but it should be slightly warm. In the summer heat, peppers are moistened with a cooler liquid. For those who use biofuel on straw to heat the greenhouse, it is useful to know that the peppers will have to be watered more intensively.
About the benefits of dressings
Competent feeding of plants with fertilizers is a guarantee of a notable harvest. For the full and maximum development of vegetable pepper, top dressing should include the following plant nutrition elements:
• phosphorus;
• nitrogen;
• potassium;
• calcium.
These components are very important for the survival of seedlings in a new place, the formation of a plant bush, the formation of a healthy ovary, and the development of large juicy fruits.
Organic fertilizers will also be a good help in caring for vegetable peppers. If along the way you are engaged in animal husbandry or breed poultry, then such feeding will cost you completely free, and will bring considerable benefits.
To prepare organic fertilizer, you need cow dung or bird droppings. Raw materials are diluted with water in proportions of 1: 3 and allowed to brew for several days. For feeding, the resulting fertilizer is again diluted with water, this time 1: 9.
You can add 15 g of superphosphate to one bucket of fertilizer. This amount of feeding will satisfy the nutritional needs of 10-12 plants. It is useful to do it after 10-14 days from the moment the seedlings are planted in the greenhouse to a permanent place.
In the future, feeding is alternated and carried out every 2-3 weeks. Fertilizers are recommended to be combined with watering. Organics can replace top dressing with ammonium nitrate. Then, after such a nutritious watering, phosphorus fertilizers should also be applied.
It is important to determine in time what the plant lacks, otherwise you can not wait for the ovaries and ripe fruits. Lack of phosphorus is easily recognized by the reddening leaves. When the leaves of a plant dry up, and you do not skimp on watering, it may be due to a lack of potassium. When the pepper is deficient in calcium, the shrub shows signs of decay.
