Wild rose bushes are called wild rose. The natural conditions for their development are temperate and warm climatic zones, usually in the northern hemisphere of the Earth. Such shrubs usually reach a height of two meters, and their branches can be either straight or falling downward

There are some types of rose hips where shoots are observed that are very long and cling to the branches of other crops, and sometimes just spread over the surface of the earth. But many rose hips, on the contrary, appear as low-growing bushes with dense foliage, especially at the onset of the flowering phase.

In any variety of rose hips, the leaves are elliptical or egg-shaped, and also have a sharp carving. Near each of them there is a pair of stipules, some of which grow to the beginning of the cutting. The flowers of rosehip bushes always have a large size and a fragrant aroma. They can grow both individually and inside a lush inflorescence. Usually the diameter of one flower is about twelve centimeters. In relation to the corolla, five pieces of petals can be observed, which can be colored yellow, white or pink. Red and dark cherry shades are less common. Both the stamens and the pistils of the dog rose have a large number. In the wild, rosehip varieties can be found that have more than five petals in flowers. The inflorescences themselves have a double or semi-double surface. In the first case, the size and decorativeness are slightly higher.

Most rosehip varieties are characterized by short-term flowering in cold and temperate climates. The phase usually starts in May and ends in July. But in the subtropics, wild shrubs bloom without interruption. The first fruits can be seen in August, when they begin to turn yellow and orange. They can be on the branches even before the onset of winter.

Very often today, in summer cottages, rose hips are found in gardens as a decoration of the territory. But in this case, you need to thoroughly prepare by creating plantings in relation to soil protection. Rosehips are not very capricious and unpretentious in terms of soil conditions where they will be grown. Most of the varieties are very fond of good lighting and develop well on loams.

Rosehips can be propagated in two ways - vegetatively or with the help of seeds. Garden varieties are often propagated by dividing the shrub, cuttings of stems and roots, layering. But roses in a cultural environment can also be propagated and grafted.

Rosehips have more than two hundred thousand different varieties that settled on the planet a long time ago. Some summer residents believe that garden rose hips are more decorative and fragrant. However, in fact, many wild plants are not inferior to them.

May rosehip - This is a variety that is especially common in the temperate climate of the middle zone of the country. In the forest, you can observe such a rosehip very often. But most of these shrubs are found near rivers and near thickets near water. This variety received this name due to the fact that for a couple of weeks in the month of May, its flowers become large and acquire a bright pink hue. Closer to August, the color turns to orange, and even later to red, signaling its ripening. The size of the bush itself can be low and reach a height of three meters. It all depends on the conditions, care and microclimate. The shape of the fruit can also be roundish or flattened. Small sharp thorns and curved needles can be observed on the shoots of the May rosehip.

Wrinkled rosehip came to us from the shores of the Pacific Ocean from the Korean area. A myriad of these shrubs grow near the Baltic Sea. Throughout the summer season, catchy and large-sized flowers can be seen on such plants. The plant is very beautiful and decorative, and in autumn the rosehip bush strikes with the attractiveness of orange flattened fruits.

Dog rose common in Russia, or rather, in its European part. Dog rose is most common near railways and ruined buildings. Many summer residents from there take the bushes for transplanting into their garden. They choose this type of rose hips, since this culture is unpretentious in care and is resistant to frost and low temperatures.
