What succulents to plant in the garden?

If earlier all kinds of succulents were grown mainly on window sills, now more and more often they can also be seen growing in open ground in gardens. Many gardeners are very willing to use these plants to decorate flower beds, flower beds and alpine hills, and, it should be noted, succulents really look great there! What kind of succulents are suitable for growing in our gardens?

Which succulents grow well outdoors?

In our latitudes, the choice almost always needs to be made in favor of well-wintering succulents - and this can be not only stonecrops or rejuvenated (it is often also called a stone rose), but also levisia, delosperm, bacopa and a number of other plants! There are actually not so few varieties of succulents most suitable for growing in the open field, so in this case there is even plenty to choose from!

Sun-loving plants

Such plants do very well even on poor soils in direct sunlight! That is, they are ideal for decorating those corners of a garden or a summer cottage where nothing else will grow at all!

It was rejuvenated. With the help of this plant, you can create the most real "living" pictures! And the youth will certainly delight you with a very impressive unpretentiousness in care! This handsome man is not embarrassed by either too dry periods, or little snow and rather severe winters!

Sedum, or sedums. If you grow this beauty in the shade, you can forever lose the opportunity to admire the densely overgrown carpet, completely dotted with wondrous stars of tiny flowers! But in sunny areas stonecrops will certainly show themselves in all their glory!

Aptenia. The surface of the leaves of aptenia can boast of the content of special substances that reliably protect them from sunburn, which is destructive for almost any vegetation. Moreover, these leaves simply adore when direct sunlight falls on them!

Dorotheanthus. Opening its graceful buds with the appearance of the first rays of the gentle sun, the dorotheanthus again closes them only before sunset. If the season is characterized by an abundance of cloudy days, then the flowering of this plant may not be seen at all!

Delosperma. It should be grown exclusively in the sun - when planted in the shade, it will stretch very much and will rarely produce flowers, which in turn will have a very negative effect on decorativeness.

Plants for shaded areas

And in shaded areas, the groundwort, levisia and euphorbia grow well, but in all cases it is important to try to select the most suitable species representatives. And, of course, everything is good in moderation, that is, the shadow should be moderate - even the most shade-loving plant will not fall in love with the deepest, one might even say, "dense" shadow!

"Special" plants

There are also succulents for which neither placement in sunny areas nor growing in the shade is suitable. The brightest representative of such is, for example, Bacopa. If the manual for the cultivation of certain forms or varieties of Bacopa stipulates the need for good lighting, then there is almost always a mention of the fact that it is important to try not to let the direct rays of the sun hit the leaf blades. If you grow this beauty in full shade, then the shade will simply "steal" all its beauty, and the beautiful plant will very quickly become inconspicuous! In short, in the case of bacopa, it is necessary to find a middle ground, and they usually find it exclusively by experience!

Ampelous varieties of Bacopa are especially popular with gardeners, as well as Bacopa Monier - hanging shoots of a very impressive length look amazing on any elevations! And on a flat surface, such plants will also look no worse - lined with a luxurious carpet, they invariably delight the eye with incredibly attractive blooming foci!
