Purple stethoscope (lat. Eupatorium purpureum) - a representative of the genus Poskonnik of the family Asteraceae or Asteraceae. The homeland is considered to be North America. Closer to autumn, the stem becomes pinkish, which gives the plant a special zest. The foliage is green, oblong, large, a distinctive feature is purple or purple streaks.

The flowers are collected in baskets, the marginal flowers are purple in color. Baskets are formed in large numbers, form corymbose inflorescences, due to which they resemble fluffy caps. By the way, this is the reason for another name - shaposhnik. Flowering is long, occurs in late June - early August and continues until the onset of frost. Fruits - crested achenes, bear small seeds, rough to the touch.

Conditions for successful cultivation

In general, purple stew is not a whimsical crop, but for abundant flowering and the absence of diseases, it is recommended to plant plants in well-lit areas. Light and delicate shade will not harm the culture. The soil is desirable nutritious, loose, moderately moist, with a neutral pH. You should not try to grow purple steepless in areas with heavy clay, waterlogged and waterlogged soil.

Growing features

Most often, purple stew is propagated by seed, often through seedlings. Seeds are cold stratified before sowing. The seeds are mixed with wet sand, placed in a jar or rag, and left on the top shelf of the refrigerator for a month. Sowing is carried out in seedling boxes in the first or second decade of March. The day before sowing, the seeds are treated in a weak solution of manganese.

Since the seeds of the stethoscope purple are small, they are not deeply planted. It is enough to deepen the seeds to a depth of 0.3-0.5 cm.
