Bone sap wrinkled (lat. Eupatorium rugosa) - a herbaceous plant that forms lush bushes in the process of growth. Belongs to the genus Poskonnik of the family Asteraceae or Asteraceae. Homeland is North America. However, in the wild, it is distributed almost everywhere, including on the territory of the Russian Federation. Usually the plant is found in meadows, forests, as well as along river banks.
Characteristics of culture
The wrinkled stellate is represented by herbaceous plants, reaching a height of 150-200 cm. It is characterized by a powerful stem, crowned with green, opposite, oval-lanceolate foliage with narrowed tips and a jagged edge. The flowers are collected in small baskets, and the baskets, in turn, in corymbose inflorescences, under optimal climatic conditions and proper care, are very lush and attractive. The color of the marginal flowers is white.
Today, wrinkled steak is actively used in breeding; today, several interesting varieties have been obtained. Their peculiarity lies not in the color of flowers, but in the foliage. For example, the Chocolet variety is famous for its bronze-brown foliage with purple veins. Also, this variety boasts high frost-resistant properties. It is excellent for growing in the Urals and Siberia.
Subtleties of reproduction
Bone sap is propagated in two ways - by sowing seeds and vegetatively, or rather by dividing the bushes. Most often, gardeners use the second method, since the plants completely retain their species characteristics and bloom faster. By the way, with the seed method of reproduction, plants bloom only in the second - third year after sowing, of course, under favorable climatic conditions and proper care.
For vegetative propagation, mother plants over 5 years old are used. The division of the birchwood bushes is carried out by means of a shovel. At least three buds should remain on each division. The procedure is carried out in the second or third decade of April - the first decade of May. Delenki are immediately planted in a permanent place at a distance of 0.5 m from each other, provide abundant watering.
Culture care
Care includes a few simple procedures, namely moderate watering, regular weeding, light loosening as needed. Also, in the process of growth, you may need a garter to the support, because the wrinkled steep reaches a height of 200 cm. Gardeners recommend regularly removing faded inflorescences in order to exclude self-seeding.
Garden and medical applications
The wrinkled rump, despite its simplicity, is often used in landscape design. Moreover, it most often acts as an independent element. It is especially often used to form hedges and multi-tiered flower beds. Also, the plant is used to decorate unsightly garden buildings. The wrinkled stethoscope looks especially good in conjunction with echinacea, astilba and many cereals.
It is also worth noting the healing properties of the wrinkled steak. It is characterized by anti-inflammatory, choleretic, anthelmintic properties. Especially often, decoctions and infusions from the roots of the stethosis are recommended for coughing (they contribute to the discharge of sputum), diarrhea, high blood pressure, gastritis and with high blood cholesterol levels.
The collection of the roots is carried out in the fall, after flowering. It is important to remember that wrinkled steak has contraindications, because it contains poisonous alkaloids, which are dangerous in large quantities, so it is extremely important to consult a doctor before using.
