Every summer resident knows that any plant needs to be fed, because nutrition is one of the most important functions for any living organism. Phosphorus is very often used as a trace element that provides nutrition for various types of vegetation
The abundance of phosphorus has a positive effect on such functions of grass, flowers and fruit crops as development and flowering. Due to its special qualities, phosphorus is often used as a fertilizer for plants. Such drugs are usually classified into two main types - insoluble and those that must be dissolved in water before use.
Phosphate fertilizers and their role for plants
A substance such as phosphorus is able to regulate metabolic processes. In addition, it is precisely this that is observed in the composition of RNA and DNA. Among the positive features acquired from plants after the application of phosphorus, it is worth noting resistance to frost and drought. Therefore, gardeners pay special attention to phosphorus fertilizers when it is required to feed young seedlings that are in rapid and dynamic development. The phosphorus starvation of the plant will be indicated by the altered shade of the leaves of the plant. In such a situation, they change their color to bronze or purple. Also, a slowdown in the growth and maturation of crops becomes immediately noticeable.
An important advantage of phosphorus fertilizers is the fact that even during rain or watering, they are not washed out of the ground. During feeding, nutrients are placed closer to the roots, and also brought under digging in the spring or autumn period of the year. For example, hardly soluble and complex components should be applied in the fall (this includes phosphate rock). In the spring, superphosphates are introduced into the soil.
Phosphate fertilizers and their types
All fertilizers containing phosphorus have different differences from each other. Factors indicating this symptom include the percentage composition and level of solubility of the substance in water. Fertilizers dissolving in water are more convenient to use. Such products will be great for plants even on alkaline or acidic soil. Those substances that dissolve with difficulty in water can only be used on acidic soil. The introduction of such a drug is begun in the fall for the purpose of subsequent deep digging.
What are the phosphorus fertilizers?
The most popular type of phosphate fertilizer is superphosphate, the main purpose of which is to be used in the garden. Hence, two more types follow: simple and double superphosphate. The concentration of phosphorus in them is different. In the first case, it reaches up to twenty-two percent, and in the second, up to forty-five. In addition, the second type of superphosphate also contains sulfur and nitrogen, and the simple product does not contain gypsum. A similar tool is suitable for feeding all types of crops - flowers, trees, vegetables.
Bone meal is no less famous among summer residents. In another way, it is also called phosphoazotine. It belongs to the group of natural and environmentally friendly fertilizers. A similar flour is obtained by the method of special processing of bones. There are a lot of useful substances here and in addition to phosphorus - such as calcium, iodine, zinc and others. It is best used to feed vegetables and flowers. Indoor flowers in the form of palms and lianas respond particularly well to bone meal. The decomposition of the agent in the soil takes six to eight months.
It will be very difficult to dissolve phosphorite flour in water, but the action of the agent lasts a long time if you add its high dosage to the soil even before planting. The main components here are phosphorus and calcium. They are used exclusively for digging in the autumn period of the year. Phosphate rock is suitable for acidic soils or composts. Here it quickly becomes a form available to plants. In no case is it recommended to knead such flour with ash or lime substances. But you can add simple superphosphate, ammonium nitrate and some other drugs to it.
Ammophos, which consists of nitrogen and phosphorus, is a complex fertilizer that is difficult to dissolve in water. Both components are contained here in a form that is easily absorbed by the soil and plants. Nitroammophos is actively used by gardeners to fertilize land that is not deficient in potassium.
