Landscaping is an activity that knows no boundaries. Extensive experience from different countries and eras helps to create something new and truly valuable for culture and simply for an amateur designer. Many interesting ideas and developments have been embodied in many suburban areas around the world.

Since there are several climatic zones and the landscape is completely different, designers are finding new ways to decorate their private plots, bringing a little exotic and beauty to life.

A popular method of arrangement is to imitate a certain landscape or various natural elements and objects. An original element for decorating the site is a dry stream. Its construction brings something innately deep and soothing that is inherent in the gardens of the East. The idea for the dry stream came from Japan, which has a philosophy that has evolved over time in its landscapes and interiors. Oriental ideas are deeply connected with nature, which offers the perfect solution to any question, both in life and in design.

A dry stream is an imitation of a natural natural body of water or a bed of a dry stream. Such an object is built with the help of stones, plants, bridges and other decorative elements. If, for some reason, the construction of a real reservoir or stream is impossible, a dry stream will become an original solution in landscaping, since it is less laborious to perform and not whimsical to maintain. By arranging a dry stream, you can hide some of the imperfections of the site, for example, differences in ground levels. Also, using this object, you can connect, isolate and delimit objects located on the site.

Almost any corner of the garden, both flat and hilly, is suitable for arranging a dry stream; the presence of shade and light also does not play a role in its location. This landscape design object should look as natural as possible and repeat natural forms. A dry stream can be winding or straight, you can also choose any depth. To make the stream look perfect, you can borrow ideas from nature. In order to accurately and correctly determine the shape and size of a dry stream, its outlines should be poured with sand, since having laid out and tamped the main material, it will not be easy to change something. Having determined the place, shape and size, you need to choose the material for the arrangement. To decorate a dry stream, a stone of various colors, shapes and sizes is chosen. It can be either a decorative stone (pebbles, granite), or ordinary crushed stone or natural stone, which will add naturalness. Small pieces of wood and sawdust will also work.

The first stage in the construction of the stream will be the digging of the channel, timely marking with sand will help to remove the layer of earth clearly in shape. The depth of the trench depends on the size of the stones that will cover it, on average 10-15 cm. In order to avoid the germination of unnecessary plants, the bottom is lined with a lining material, it can be a dense film, roofing material or any improvised material suitable for these purposes. Next, the trench is lined with a stone, trying to lay it evenly. To simulate water and create highlights in the stream, glass elements can be placed in the space between the stones, which will reflect the light. Large stones are laid along the edges of the stream - this will form the natural banks. Also, along the contour of a dry stream, plants are planted that grow along natural reservoirs. An excellent design and addition of a dry stream is the planting of ornamental grasses (cereals), which have a beautiful variety of texture and foliage.

To decorate a dry stream, a wooden or rope bridge is thrown over its bed, and sculptures and small architectural forms will also complement the composition. In order for the constructed art object to be attractive, lighting is used in the dark. These can be light-accumulative lanterns located along the coast or small lamps installed directly in the channel. Caring for a dry stream is only about maintaining order, cleanliness, getting rid of dry foliage or debris. Also, the stream should be periodically ennobled, adding stones and updating the coverings of additional elements of the composition.
