It seems to me that everyone knows about the benefits of greens! Much to our surprise and regret, not many people eat it in the quantities that our body needs. More often than not, we simply forget to buy greens in the store. Would anyone be hungry without greens? No! And then we look in pharmacies for what vitamins to buy to improve health. But in fact, everything is simpler than simple: just get a small garden on the windowsill. It will be much more difficult to forget about greens, because vitamins will always be at hand

If you want to have fresh herbs all year round, you can arrange a mini-vegetable garden at home. Important conditions for plant growth are: good lighting, sunlight and a favorable temperature regime in the room. The source of additional lighting can be a fluorescent fluorescent lamp installed above the seedlings. Foam blocks are fitted under the pots with plants, they protect the roots from freezing.

What plants will grow at home?

Most greens, some vegetables, herbs for seasoning - it's all grown just on the windowsill. Onions, parsley, dill, lettuce, celery grow well from greens. Vegetables include cucumbers, tomatoes, bell peppers. Herbs such as basil, thyme, rosemary, mint, lavender, laurel have proven themselves well for planting at home.

We plant a mini-vegetable garden

The pot is selected with holes in the bottom. Its depth depends on the rhizome of the plant. Drainage is laid at the bottom, it can be expanded clay, pebbles, crushed stone, crumbled foam plastic, small pieces of brick. It takes up a quarter of the entire volume of the pot. The earth is poured from above. It is prepared in advance, poured with boiling water and allowed to dry for 4–5 days.

After filling the pot, the soil is poured abundantly with water so that it flows out through the holes in the bottom of the pot. The seeds are sown on the surface of the soil, not very densely, and covered with plastic wrap. Onions can also be sown, but the greenery will grow faster if you plant the onion directly in the ground.

Basil, mint, thyme, rosemary, lavender are propagated by seeds and cuttings. When planting a cutting, the bottom of the plant twig is cut at an angle and placed in a container with clean filtered water. It is planted in a pot after sprouting of the roots, to a depth of 2-3 cm. It is covered from above with the upper part of a cut plastic bottle. Precisely with the upper part, because you can unscrew the cork, ventilate and moisten the mini-greenhouse without disturbing the seedling itself. The film and bottle create a greenhouse effect and stimulate plant growth.

To grow laurel, its seeds are cleaned of the upper wrinkled skin, washed with clean water and placed in the ground to a depth of 2 cm. After the appearance of thin shoots of greenery, the weak and superfluous ones are pinched off, and the strongest are transplanted into other forms. This will ensure a bountiful, healthy harvest.

The situation with vegetables is more complicated. For growing at home, ordinary grains extracted from the fruit are not suitable, you need to buy special seeds of homemade vegetables. From them dwarf plants grow, bearing fruit all year round.

We purchase a universal soil that already contains the necessary nutrients and minerals. As an initial pot, we use a plastic glass, always transparent, with a volume of 250 ml. We fill it with earth, make a 2 cm depression in the soil and put 1-2 grains there. We fill them with soil, do not compact, pour water on top. We transplant the emerging seedlings into a large flowerpot and immediately water them so that the roots take root well. We do organic feeding every two weeks.
