How to keep a bouquet of chrysanthemums longer?

Chrysanthemum bouquets are always very beautiful and invariably pleasing to the eye, because the extremely colorful inflorescences of these amazing flowers allow you to create the most incredible compositions! Chrysanthemums do not fade for a long time, which makes them an excellent gift, moreover, with a competent approach, these marvelous bouquets can be preserved even longer! And sometimes it becomes necessary to preserve beautiful flowers for going to some important event. What do you need to do for this?

How to extend the life of a bouquet?

Before the beautiful chrysanthemums end up in your favorite vase, each stalk should be cut exclusively along an oblique line (in no case straight!), And the lower leaves should be carefully removed. And only after that, the bouquet is lowered into a vase half-filled with water. At the same time, it is important to ensure that this water is as “comfortable” as possible for flowers, that is, not very cold, but at the same time not very warm (ideally, at room temperature). And then every second day, the stalks are cut off again, and the water is replaced with a new one.

In order for the water to saturate the flowers even better, it is recommended to make small cross-shaped cuts at the tips of all the stalks, and then carefully split the tips of these cuts in different directions. And in order for the chrysanthemums to stand even longer, it is recommended to put a vase of flowers in a room where the temperature does not exceed twenty degrees, and the windows do not let the direct and literally blinding rays of the sun through.

It does not hurt to know that chrysanthemums are extremely intolerant of drafts - however, in this they differ little from any other flowers, and from people too. The neighborhood with various juicy fruits also harms them, so it is better to put the fruit bowl as far as possible from the vase with flowers!

What to do if chrysanthemums begin to wither?

It is quite possible to reanimate flowers that have already begun to fade: for this purpose, the stalks of chrysanthemums are first dipped into cold water, and after a couple of minutes - into hot water. If the cuts on the stems began to rot, then they are cut off a few millimeters higher. And only then the flowers can be put back in a vase filled with water at room temperature - after a while you will be able to see that they have noticeably freshened up!

Other Ways to Give Flowers a Second Life

In modern flower shops, you can now easily purchase all kinds of special means to "revive" flowers - in most cases they really do an excellent job with the task assigned to them. If it was not possible to find such means on sale, then you can always resort to the help of improvised means.

An excellent helper for drying chrysanthemums will be the most ordinary aspirin - to "revive" the flowers, it is enough to dissolve only half of one aspirin tablet in three liters of water! In the absence of aspirin, you can also use salt - one small pinch is taken for three liters of water. And some flower lovers use 0.003% lapis, also added to the water, with the same success.

If only some of the leaves have begun to fade, you can put the flowers in sweetened water (for every liter of water - a teaspoon of sugar). And if the flowers need to be kept fresh before going to any important event, then they are wrapped in moist newspaper sheets, and then placed in the refrigerator, in a compartment specially designed for storing fruits and vegetables.

Stearin will also be a good helper - it is buried in each inflorescence with one single drop. It is very simple to do this: a lighted candle is tilted over the inflorescence and wait for the moment when the drop falls into the very core of the flower.

As you can see, keeping a bouquet of chrysanthemums longer or giving it a “second life” is not so difficult, the main thing is to know exactly how this can be done! And if everything is done correctly, the adorable bouquet will delight the eyes with its brightness and juiciness for a long time!
