The choice of a place for growing subulate phlox should be in such a way that preference is given to a dry area with excellent sunlight. Particular attention should be paid to the type of soil. It should not be too fertile, because in this case phlox will give a large vegetative mass, but it will not bloom well. It is better to choose loose and dry soil. Slightly acidic or neutral soil types, sandy are perfect for growing flowers. If you have to grow phlox on too wet black soil, then you should not expect abundant and beautiful flowering from them. You should not choose an area for planting where garden strawberries were grown. From this plant, nematodes can remain in the soil, quickly moving to new crops. In general, with regard to the care of such flowers, it is necessary to observe the timely loosening of the earth, the removal of weeds, watering in moderation with the help of warm water, the destruction of wilted inflorescences.

After every five years of cultivation, subulate phloxes need to be transplanted to a new place. In this case, during the flowering phase, the plant will delight longer with its decorative appearance, and much more inflorescences themselves will appear on the plant. Subulate phloxes are frost-resistant crops. However, in order for the flowers to survive the winter well, it is necessary to cover them with a sufficient amount of snow. To ensure this condition in the autumn season, the tops of phlox are cut off. Before wintering, the root system should be sprinkled with a mixture of peat and soil. In addition, you can cover the plants with straw, spruce branches or fall leaves fallen from trees. In the event that very warm weather begins to stand in winter, and there is practically no frost, then the shelter will need to be removed so that the styloid phlox does not vomit.

Annual phlox varieties should be fed approximately four times during the season. Perennial varieties require five times, where the last fertilization occurs at the time of the formation of the fruit with the seed box.

At the end of the spring period of the year, fertilizer applied to the soil consists of twenty-five grams of slurry and ten liters of water. At the beginning of the first summer month, it is necessary to repeat the feeding, but add superphosphate here. The third application of fertilization in the form of simple slurry occurs in early July. The fourth feeding procedure occurs at the end of the second summer month. Here you need to feed the phlox with phosphoric salt and a substance in the form of potassium. Such manipulation should be carried out in the evening. There is a possibility of using wood ash flowers as fertilizer. This requires taking three hundred and fifty grams of the component and mixing them with two liters of water. Bring this solution to a boil and wait another ten minutes. After cooling and filtering, you need to add more water in the amount of one bucket here. Subulate phloxes are fed with such a means both in the area of / u200b / u200bthe roots and along the leaf plates. After the end of winter, it is necessary to water the phlox with humus. Thus, the flowers will begin to grow even faster, and the root system will develop better.

How do subulate phlox propagate?

There are several ways to reproduce the styloid phlox. One of them is division, which consists in digging out the roots and dividing them into pieces with pieces of roots. In the case of pinning shoots, you need to sprinkle them with earth a little. And during the appearance of young shoots, they should be separated from the main bush and transplanted to another place. In a situation with cuttings, branches that are accidentally broken are needed. Here, the leaves should be plucked from them in the lower area, after which the cuttings are added dropwise in the shaded areas of the garden.
