It's a great way to grow your own greens and feast on them whenever you want! What kind of greenery will not be difficult to grow on the windowsill in the most ordinary city apartment?

Green onions

This is a perennial favorite of all window sills that have ever grown greens! Green onions are very healthy, grow quickly and boast impressive unpretentiousness. In order to grow it on a windowsill, almost any planting material is suitable: you can use a turnip onion, or you can take a large onion set. True, in the latter case, the yields will be smaller, since the set is quickly depleted, but the feathers of the green onion grown from the set are always softer and softer. Roughly the same can be said about small turnip onions. As for large bulbs, they delight with harvests much longer, they give much more greenery and their feathers are usually much larger.

Forcing onions are usually planted in small containers filled with either water, a special nutrient solution, or soil. If the choice is made in favor of liquid, it is important to ensure that the bulbs do not fall into the water under any circumstances, but only touch it, otherwise they may begin to rot. And if the bulbs are placed in the soil, you can additionally add a hydrogel soaked in a Gumi solution to the soil - it will save the onion from moisture deficiency. To obtain regular harvests, it is recommended to plant onions every one and a half to two weeks.

There are two ways to get parsley at home: distillation from pre-prepared roots and sowing seeds in the ground. Despite the fact that distillation from the roots provides for a certain preparation, this method is still considered simpler and more convenient. And even if it was not possible to prepare planting material in the fall, you can always find high-quality root crops for subsequent distillation in stores!

For distillation, root crops must be taken healthy, without signs of wilting and of medium size, that is, their weight should ideally be within thirty to sixty grams. And one more important condition - apical buds must be preserved on root crops, because heavily cut specimens are unlikely to be able to please with juicy greens.

After thoroughly moistening the soil in a flower pot or box, the prepared roots are immediately planted, after which their tops are well covered with soil. If they are too long, then it is quite permissible to cut them off (in this case, sprinkle the slices with coal to avoid rot) or plant them obliquely. By the way, an inclined landing is considered even a better option than a traditional one.

When planting parsley with seeds, it is important not to forget that its seeds germinate very slowly, and the plant itself is very light-loving, that is, with a lack of light, the seedlings can easily begin to stretch. In order for the parsley sown with seeds to germinate better, it is recommended to pre-soak its seeds in a Gumi solution. In general, parsley is very unpretentious - it is watered as needed, and it is not afraid of the cold either.

It grows very well at home and lettuce. True, he is very light-loving and needs additional lighting, and this fact should by no means be discounted. With a lack of lighting, the lettuce will begin to form early peduncles. The varieties chosen for cultivation at home also play an important role - it is best to give preference to the varieties Lollo Bionda and Lollo Rossa. Such varieties as Emerald Lace, Vitamin or New Year's are also quite suitable.

Lettuce growing on the windowsill must be protected from heat and drought, otherwise the rapid formation of peduncles will begin on it, and its leaves will become bitter and coarse. And also the seedlings of lettuce need to be thinned, which is recommended to be carried out twice: a week after pecking the seedlings (in this case, the distance between the seedlings should be equal to one or two centimeters) and in the phase of two or three true leaves (in this case, the distance should be greater - in four to five centimeters). With overly thickened crops, the plants stretch and weaken, which leads to a lack of full-fledged crops.
