Knifofia also known under the name tritoma. This plant belongs to perennial crops. In total, there are even more than seventy-five different plants in the genus of this flower.

It is noteworthy that this plant is distinguished by a rather abundant and long flowering: such flowering will begin in the spring period of time and will last until the autumn period of time. Nevertheless, the flowering period of knifophya will be in direct proportion to the species and variety of this plant. However, berry knifofia is the most popular. This plant is especially appreciated by gardeners due to its bright color and amazing inflorescences of a rather unusual shape. The following groups of this plant are distinguished: berry, taka, makowena and hybrid.

Features of the care and cultivation of knifofia

Despite the fact that this plant is quite unpretentious to care for, it is recommended to follow simple growing rules, thanks to which knifofia will delight you for a very long time. For bnifofia, it is recommended to choose sunny areas, shaded areas are also acceptable. As for the soil itself, moist and fertile soils, which can be both light and medium, will be the best solution. It is worth noting that the plant is distinguished by a rather strong love for moisture, nevertheless, both stagnation of moisture and excessive moisture are extremely undesirable for knifophia, or rather completely unacceptable. The plant should be given moderate watering. As for fertilizing, the plant will be quite responsive to such attention. In the spring, it is recommended to perform the first feeding: it is recommended to do this with the help of mineral fertilizers, which can be potash fertilizers.

Regular loosening and weeding of the soil under the knifofia is also very important for caring for the plant. It is recommended to pre-prepare this plant for the winter period. In the autumn period of time, it will be necessary to prune the inflorescences of knifofia. From above, the plant should be covered with either spruce branches or foliage. Any other covering material is also suitable: for example, roofing material or film.

Reproduction of knifophy

Reproduction of a plant such as knifofia can occur both through seeds and by dividing the rhizome. As for reproduction by means of seeds, this procedure is recommended to be carried out either at the end of March or at the beginning of April. Seeds of knifophya must be placed in boxes and covered with glass. Already after two and a half or three weeks, the first shoots will appear. After the appearance of at least two or three true leaves of bniphophy, you should pick the plant into separate containers. Around the month of July, planting of knifofia seedlings in open ground should be carried out, it is necessary to plant directly to a permanent place. When planting, it is necessary to maintain a certain distance between the plants: it is recommended to plant knifofia at a distance of thirty to forty centimeters from each other. In the case when reproduction occurs by means of seeds, then the cniphophia will begin to bloom after one year.

As for the reproduction of bniphophy by dividing the rhizomes, such a procedure should be carried out either in early spring, until the moment when the plant begins to bloom, or already in the autumn period, as soon as the flowering of bniphophia ends.

If we are talking about diseases and pests, then it is worth noting that the plant is quite resistant to this kind of trouble. However, in the case of illiterate care, the rhizomes of the plant can rot. Spider mites, as well as thrips, quite often attack Knifofia.
