The choice of hanging plants is great. All of them are divided into 2 groups: outdoor and indoor. Consider the types of ampelous plants for landscaping open areas, balconies, terraces.
Petunia

Ampel petunias are the leader in gardening. They are in demand for decorating verandas, loggias, garden plots, city streets. More than 50 varieties have been bred, all of them bloom profusely for several months, the length of hanging stems is 40-60 cm. Cascading varieties have strong flexible shoots of 50-80 cm, some grow to 120.
Ampel petunias are unpretentious, withstand well overheating of the soil, rare watering. Flowering continues until the onset of frost. The plant is bushy, the shoots are dense, powerful, forming dense curtains of blooming greenery.

For beginners, it is better to choose hybrid varieties (marked with F1), they are disease resistant, tolerate erratic care and are more resistant to adverse weather conditions. Hybrids: Lel, Diamond (Parple, pink pearl), Vivaldi Mystery, Rose Wayne, Supreme, Dot Star Dark Violet, Fortunia, Success, etc.
Pelargonium ivy / ampelous geranium

Pelargonium comes in a wide variety of colors and is renowned for its ease of maintenance. The characteristic features of ampelous geranium are falling stems (50-90 cm), textured five-lobed leaves, and elongated peduncles. The buds are collected in umbrella-shaped inflorescences of different shades, they are double and simple.
The leaves are rounded, smooth, monotonous green or variegated, with a characteristic circular pattern. Varieties are divided into ivy and scented (with smaller flowers). All varieties of pelargonium are hybrids (F1), they are drought tolerant, heat tolerant. I will list the most spectacular ampel varieties marked F1: Sommertime, Rich Out White (Pink, Red, Light Parple), Summer Rain, Lilak Bicolor, Crystal Queen F1 Rose, Crystal Queen, Giant Arctic Scarlet, etc.
Verbena

Ampel verbena is ideal for growing in pots. This plant is valued for its unpretentiousness, rich color range, abundant and long bud formation. Only hybrid species belong to ampel varieties. They all bloom from June to September.
The bushes grow with a diameter of 12-15 cm, rise 15-30 cm in height, then the shoots descend in a picturesque cascade down to 50 cm. The varieties with purple, blue, lilac, red buds are popular: Tiara Red, Imagineishen, Impres Peach, Estrela Voodoo Star, Amethyst, Lanai Candy Kay.

The creeping deciduous ornamental plant Dichondra looks amazing in a hanging planter. The stems of ampelous species are capable of reaching two meters. The plant is moisture-loving, prefers shady places, slows down growth in the sun, requires regular watering.
When growing, the lashes fall down and form a cascade, tightly braiding the surface of any container. A distinctive feature is the rapid growth and interesting color of the leaves. During the flowering period, the entire bush is covered with small flowers. The height of the bush is 15-20 cm, the length of the shoots depends on the variety and is 1-1.5 m.
There are 10 ampel varieties, the most interesting of them are: Emerald Falls, Silver Falls, Silver threads, Dichondra Repens / Creeping.
Fuchsia

Ampel fuchsia is grown exclusively suspended. It has fluffy twigs that do not wrap around the pots, but hang down in the form of a voluminous spherical cascade. The spreading crown is covered with bright flowers throughout the warm season. The plant tolerates heat, temperature changes, does not like waterlogging.
Depending on the type, the buds are simple, large-flowered and double, the color range is quite diverse: flowering takes place in pink, in scarlet, blue, yellow, purple, white. Popular ampelous fuchsia varieties: Blue Angel, Golden Monica, Iceicle, First Love, Fairy. The most beautiful are Hollis Beauty, Imperial Crown, Prince of Peace.
