The milk-flowered peony is a perennial herb, the height of which will fluctuate between sixty and one hundred centimeters. The root thickenings of this plant are spindle-shaped and they are painted in brown tones. The stems of the peony lactocyst are glabrous, they can be endowed with one or more flowers. The leaves of this plant will be doubly triple, while the leaf lobes are petiolate, and the lateral ones will be sessile, in shape they can be either elliptical or lanceolate. For the most part, such leaves will be pointed, while some of the bracts of this plant can be either whole or leaf-shaped. The flowers of the milky-flowered peony are painted in white or red, the length of the petals will be about five to eight centimeters, and the stamens themselves will be golden yellow in color. The fruit of this plant is only three to six pieces, they are oval in shape and black in color.

The flowering of the peony of the lactobacillus occurs in the month of May, while the ripening of the seeds will occur in the month of October. Under natural conditions, this plant is found on the territory of Primorye, Priamurye and Eastern Siberia.

The rhizomes of this plant are recommended to be used as an anti-inflammatory, anticonvulsant, analgesic agent, and also used for stomach diseases, nephritis, leucorrhoea, hypertension, cancer, diabetes, various gynecological diseases, for the treatment of infectious hepatitis and retinal hemorrhages.

The decoction, prepared on the basis of rhizomes of the peony lacto-flowered, is recommended for use as a diuretic, sedative, expectorant and lactogenic agent, and is also used for various kinds of menstrual irregularities, gastritis with reduced gastric secretory function, liver diseases, dysentery, diarrhea, as a remedy for improved appetite and tonic.

As for Tibetan medicine, here this plant has found a fairly widespread use. A decoction based on the rhizomes of this plant is indicated for use in bronchitis, pneumonia, tuberculosis and various colds in a mixture with other drugs.

The infusion, prepared on the basis of the rhizomes of the lactobacillus peony, is endowed with a very effective sedative effect. The alcoholic extract of the rhizomes of this plant is used for post-hemorrhagic anemia, and the root powder is present in the composition of the ointment, which is used for bone fractures.
